I agree with Reba's posting.
There is a deeper classification to the word vegetarian in which you are a true vegan or an "omni"-vegan, or a once-in-awhile vegan.
I think it's the perception of really what you consider yourself personally. The principles of your culture or religion may tell you that eating fish is considered okay, and that you're still a vegan (although pesco by technical terms), like the Samoans per example.
I've several somewhat old friends that are vegans, and their ideology differs from each other.
One is a vegan raised from a Buddhist form of family background - where tofu, soy, is substituted for protein. His mother even runs a chinese veggie restaurant.
The other is a vegan from personal choice. She even considers stuff like Marshmallows and Jello to be considered taboo to eat because it contains "gelatin" - the fat of animals.
