Buck, Think of the "end game". Are there several problems with how things are going now? Of course there are. Are there better ways of handling these problems? Duh! But if it were just an issue of going over there, destroying everything and everyone, we would have done that by now.
By dropping nukes in the middle east (or anywhoere for that matter) would only make things much worse in the long run. Also, there would be no end game for us.
The goal is to stop muslim extremism and create a peaceful portion of the world where people can live with a sense of peace and safety. I know its not that way now, but as long as people can rough out the nasty stuff, there will be a better tomorrow. They just need to wait it out.
If we nuked the middle east, it will do several things. First off, it will kill millions of inncoent people that are relying on us and our allies for a chance at freedom. It will guarantee that the rest of the world will hate us (more than they already do) and they will do anything to rid the world of the U.S.
If we nuked them, it will only give those that hate us and our way of life enough to make thier views very realistic.
Example, Hugo Chavez hate the U.S. and has recently spent around 3 billion $ to buy military epupitment from Putin in Russia. Why do you think he is doing that? He is a communist that hates everything about the U.S. (excpet of course that wack job that likes to hang out at the presidents ranch).
What do you think he is planning on doing with all of that weaponry? He is the leader of Vinezuela (sp). That country is not big enough to use the equpitment he is buying. He is looking to arm and train those that hate the U.S.
This is going on now, and we havent even nuked anyone since WWII. What do think the world opinion would be if we nuked ANYONE? If we drop any nukes, we will only give credience to those that hate us.
If we nuke the middle east, whats next? We will then have to nuke south america to stop chavez from taking us on. Then we will have to go a little father north into central america where the muslim extremists are currently training to kill us. (if you dont believe that one, do your home work. Muslim extremists are in fact doing this. Then put 2 plus 2 together. MS13 is smuggling aliens into this country as we speak.)
Then after we take them on, we will have to go after europe because they will have no choice but to take us out because we have already deatroyed the middle east, south and central america.
If anyone uses nukes, they will be looked at as murders in the eyes of the rest of the world.
I know the US is a great and powerful country. But we are not big enough to take on the entire world. And that is what is sure to happen if we nuke the middle east.
When making military plans, you must look at the end game and create a strategy that will get you to the end but not assure your own end.
 
I bet thats the Reason why one of our soldiers are being tried for court martial.But if that was an Israelian soldier nothing would be done to him.

What if the Bible thumpers were right all along ? and I don't think a comet will hit us, it will be the Rapture and The End Times.
 
Ive heard of that Rapture is supposed to come way back during Bush I and Gulf War II. Well, Im still waiting....all the preachers dont know what they are talking about--only God does know when.

I heard about 2012. That may be reason : USA, Japan, and other countries has been hurry to send more Shuttles/space rockets up to drop stuffs into space there so far?? :dunno:

Nooo, I don't it is something anybody's seriously contemplating as a "real" event at least not yet. All the space stuff going is merely postering on the part of the various countries to be able to claim they belong to the exclusive space club.

Unlike the movies, there still isn't a whole lot we could do about it anyway. If it happens, it happens. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If nothing else and if true, it will be the news event of all time... :whistle: Ummm, that reminds me, I need to set my comet alarm clock... :run:

There would be big choas around the world if it is going be happen. I problary not go out to grab many bottled water or stocks of foods for the underground shelter...maybe fwe of them for few days before the dust storm take over the earth. I will be one of "dinosaurs" to be find by many millions year later people or dinopeople or possible mutant ones?. ;)

I beg to Differ,,If we stop sending Men just to orbit around the earth and do some testing on Destroying metors in space.We have 6 years to do this.Start testing to blow metors out once we get prefect we can take out this comet.Or Testing on how to get Metor into a differant direction so it will hit somewhere else not earth.

First of all, there is no serious threat of an asteroid strike until 2029 not 2012 as some have claimed. Check this link...Science Daily Article

The material I saw for 2012 was the more sensational stuff and not to be taken so seriously.

Right now NASA must do experments on both like How to move the astroroid to opisite direction from earth or Blow it up or Blow 60% up and allow 40% to hit the earth so extinction wont accord.

Has anyone read the story in the wall street journal concerning aug 22 of this year (2 1/2 weeks from now).
The leading mid-east expert in the U.S. a colloege professor (princeton I think) say that there is alot of evidence that the Iranian pres (who we all know is hell bent on the destruction of the earth. Its true, he is. Google him and his religous beliefs) MAY start nuking us and Israel on the 22nd. Apparently with his religous beliefs, aug 22 has some signifigant meaning that deals with the return of mohammed or something. The second coming is supposed to be triggered by armageddon. His thought is that if he starts armaggedon, it will start the second comming sooner. As I said, if you doubt his beliefs, research him. He is a complete wack job. He has built several hotels in Iran to house all of those that go to Iran to visit the prophet.

Now, go back a month, remember when the U.N. sent him the letter ordering him to stop uranium emrichment? Does anyone remember what his response was? He said the world will have his answer before the end of august. Also keep in mind the fact that he has publicy stated that his goal is to wipe Israel off the map of the earth. This man has been saying some off the wall stuff. This mei-east expert has said that all of Irans statements can be traced back to the pres. beliefs of Islam.

So, take it for what its worth, does anyone know where I can find sunblock with s.p.f. 1,000,000?

Er...I can well believe Iran has a nuke or two...at worst a couple. It is not a simple thing to maintain a fleet of sophisicated missles and a country needs a substantial infrastructure for that. Iran doesn't have that...just enough to be dangerous to its neighbors. One decent missle is all that needed to mess up Israel. I can't believe for one second that Iran has any significant missle to threatened us in any meaniful way. Believe this, we will not sit back and just take a hit. We can send several over and obliterate a couple cities like Tehran and send a very powerful message to the rest of the world.

I have heard about Aug 22nd and it will be interesting to see what the Iranians do with it. I agree the current President of Iran is another idiot that we have to watch for...carefully.

It all hinged on who would fold first. Still, I say we were at the advantage over the Soviets as it was our home "territory" so to speak. It might have been different if it were in a area more neutral.

Now, to answer your question...I have my doubts if it would ever escalated to that point. We both had the capacity for Mutually Assured destruction and I don't think either side really wanted to go there (it would have been a nuclear winter for sure). I really don't know even with Cuba, if it were ever to be justified. Millions upon millions would have been killed and not just between us two countries...

Perhaps you should whatch the TV interview called "The Fog of War" (on DVD too) with Robert MacNamara. He had a different viewpoint about how close we actually DID come to nuclear war.
