Since most deaf people won't be using the phone feature, the cheapest option seems to be $60. Since users have to sign up for a 2-year contract, that's a commitment of $1,440. Add $500 to that (4 GB) or $600 (8 GB). Let's not forget the activation fees as well. Altogether, we're looking at over $2,000 for everything... eek! Oh yeah, let's not forget taxes... double eek!

Don't forget... this is only for 200 text messages. For more, additional charges may apply.

I think sticking with a Sidekick 3 would be better. It would cost me under $1,000. That's also with unlimited text messaging. :)

Sk3= $200 and poor coverage/SLOW internet under T-mobile.
BB is free and better coverag/high speed under Sprint.

How is the Blackberry free?

I got my Sidekick 2 for free.

Holy shit, that's fucking expensive.

For me, I want Treo or HTC devices with TAP.

:fart: it's not expensive. If you buy Treo or any Smartphone without TAP. See what happen?

450 minutes - $39.99
data unlimited - $19.99
200 msg* - $4.99.......
TOTAL - $64.97 + tax monthly

iPhone's plan is little cheap for hearing to get than treo or blackberry.
As someone claim that you still can use TAP on iPhone, but yeah, have to wait to see they would let. :D

I am getting a Iphone with first plan rate. This is great benefit for deaf and HOH. It has EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING.

I'm sitting on my rocking chair and pop popcorns in my mouth watching those commotion and excitment on blog in my lappy. I ain't gonna do anything on iPhone purchase. Watch the price of iPhone drop dramacially to affordable level 6 months later or so.... Truth is that many Cellular companies will realized that they are not drawing in many customer they wish for so they had to lower the price further to draw in more customer to keep biz running. That's dog eat dog world tho.

Wait until next year.. When IF iPhone II come out. That's only those who are top of feeding chain can afford. Later those who are bottom of feeding chain will be able to afford next following year. So look at Sk2 and Sk3 and BB became affordable later on. I don't need to be stuck spend $50 or more a month for 2 years just to use iPhone.. Is it practical??? Suppose new one came out better than iPhone then you'll have to finish remaining iPhone contract and smashed ego until it expires.

Good luck

You don't have to. Terminate fee is $100 is cheaper than pay $60 monthly 6 months to 1 year left.

Why waste $$'s over plan that have voice usage when deafie don't use it. I'm sure they'll churn out Data plan only for deaf later on. Hold ur pant and wait till Cellular co make up their mind to attract deaf population.

Catty, someone put up information here that Apple will hold the iPhone price stable/same for 5 years. Doesn't make sense to me but that's what the information said.....

as someone already said above, there may be a TAP plan.

Tousi, all SK price are STILL same that's called Retail price (or Regular Price) so all that "low" price are discount or rebate etc etc.. blah blah..

when there's no discount or rebate one pay the retail/regular price. in case of SK 3 it is $399 *shrug* (same as SK and SK II it hasn't come down hmm?)

Except for SideKick iD which is a low cost SK.

Yup but look at Tmobile if they have iPhone. They'll charge $200 for termination fees. Termination fees varies in different Cellular companies. Not worth it. I don't mind pay $100 or less to terminate contract. Not $200 termination fees if you plan to sign up new contract w/ new PDA ect which adds up.. IT's fine for any single people who have $$'s to blow but not those who have kids, auto payments, and home mortage plus bills!:dizzy::-o:Ohno:
