The system recovery is more like re-image and AlleyCat will lost her/his files if she/he use re-image. The restore system is junk and almost never will work at all.

OSX is almost repair-free.

alleycat can document/pictures save it to blank cd or harddrive external or usb before process system recovery or restore system,too... will not lost ....

That's better and put them to your #19 before too late. Some people don't think of backup then just click system recovery.

No backup need for restore system.

actually no. IE8 is a much-improved version and a much more secured program. It's faster and better. FireFox is actually unstable and slower on longer run because of its notorious memory leak issue. Chrome is nice but many websites do not work well with it.

Just a question, Jiro - How come the IE8 I am using that constantly outages at me, which forces me to reboot the broswer every now and then? Is it because the IE* dislikes me? :ugh:

it's not IE8. it's you. I don't have a problem with it - at home and work.

IE still go down slow in future. It was around 70% now 50%. IE already lost by 20%. That's a lot to me.

I have been horribly swamped with work and unable to work on this issue just yet. But I am pretty good with computers - I'd already done everything before I even posted here the first time (e.g. cleared out cookies, history, etc.), except for trying Google Chrome. I'm thinking that's not gonna address the problem. I have everything backed up to my portable HD - love that thing! :) So if indeed my laptop crashes I will not have lost anything. I wil address this problem in a few days when I'm done with work. I have absolutely no intention of buying a mac. My graphic design software isn't mac; it's all PC-based same as work.

All I can say is that this graph and other source do not support your statement.
 
A, I figured you weren't approaching the issue without knowing some basics.

I guess it mostly depends on what you are doing shortly before the crash.. if you are using specific plugins (java; flash; silverlight) reinstalled those or the browsers to rule them out, minor things like that. Flaked wupdate that was partially corrupt, or that a third party program that is working with your browsers but I have doubts this is your case.

No antivirus programs right?

Since it's a presumably new pc, it rules out a lot of conditions older computers would see. Memory with bad chips will frequently encounter the data error report since that is when terminating, the ram is supposed to be freed. But erratic symptoms should be noticeable outside of web browsing.

The last resource (and safest) that is cost effective is to format-reinstall to see if the issue persists. Could be a fluke during install when transferring OS files, drivers, hiccups sometimes during installations from usb/cds, bad sectors on drives and all the jazz.
 
Highlander.. check out the chart again. It's noticeable IE dropped a huge chunk 10-20%, but where did they go? Look at the rest, firefox and the others barely gained more than 10% on any of them.

So.. something else happened. :)

1. is your HP laptop all updated via Windows Update and HP?
2. make sure you have latest version of internet-related software such as Java, Flash, MS Net Framework, etc.
3. did your new laptop come with pre-installed software junk? If yes - you should reformat your laptop
4. check your security configuration (IE, Windows Firewall, Norton, etc.) because it may interfere with your IE
5. check what kind of programs you have running in background. it may or may not interfere with your IE

They just recently released a new version of Flash a few weeks ago. Since then - it has been causing many technical issues.

2 years ago, I hear that IE was over 90% in market. :aw:

nobody like IE ;)

2 years later, I might see 20-30% IE in market. :hmm:

Here is problem that too many people are use old IE, not the new lately IE which is finally being individual app instead being built-in with OS.

That's why Firefox, Chromo and Safari are stay away from OS without screw up.
 
60% users use IE means that IE operates better and users find it better than other browsers? Actually NO!

Many users are not as much computer knowledgeable aka novice users while many immediate and mere experts do now there are other browsers aka FF and Chrome. It's simply because, I assume, that since Windows do include IE so they (novice users) only know IE. I mentioned my friends (some) about FF yet they did not know its existence though more and more users are picking up.

FF outperforms IE, period! Chrome is still "new" but believe it will improve over in time. Yes, IE8 improves but still is outperformed by FF and Chrome. I cannot speak for other browsers like Safari since I never tried them. Top of all, one to each own; that is all.
 
Yeah Poweron, I get what you mean.. Lots of the older people at office using IE cause they don't have general knowledge about differences in browsers and that stuff. Alley has a new computer though, in this era of mobile i-core/ phenom x2, x4 (and soon x6 later) on laptops I would really doubt they should have trouble running any browser!
