I get that message every single day now when I shut down IE for the day. Been going on for about a week. To the best of my knowledge, I've not installed any new software or hardware. I can't vouch for Windows Update, though. I have a HP laptop, just a few months old, with Windows 7. I went to microsoft's website and if you look at the list to download (I was going to uninstall my IE and re-install it with a new download), Windows 7 isn't even on the list. But that might not be necessary. Any ideas what's causing this? The rest of my laptop seems to be functioning just fine - it better - it's only a few months old !! :)

If it comes back on and works when you restart the next day, just count it as a cute quirk of your computer?? :P

:) LOL Botts.

But many things within IE (e.g. Facebook) are running exceptionally slow. It almost feels like it is even slower when Flash Player (I have the latest version) is being used. Something changed a week ago somehow.

Never used Chrome. I could give it a try. I like Firefox. I could use that. But still, what's the problem with my IE?

Why bother to use IE if it have a lot problem. Almost everyone don't use IE anymore due poor security, unstable, etc.

Update: I used Firefox just now for a bit. After closing that out, I got a message saying "Firefox is not responding" and it froze up on me. So it's both IE and Firefox.

The IE is having a lot of security and related issues - it is the same to mine at work at the moment and I am getting frusrated with it, since it is the only broswer I can use here. However, since you tried FF which doesn't work, have you tried using Google Chrome?

try optimizing 7's battery profile to maximum performance to see if issues persists.
if there are crashes with multiple browsers either the operating system or the hardware, or a combination of both are the major culprits.

O/S = reinstall, registry cleaning
Hardware = not limited to: HDD, memory, mb or even bad usb attachments

since the issue appears on program termination, it points to HDD or memory at the first thing I'd put on a symptom list.

Funny thing. I went to customer's place today. He complained that internet was not work at all. I had to removed virus and 300~ spyware then reset netsh/proxy to get it work.

Yeah, Did you try this.

Click Start then click Run then type cmd then press enter.

Wait till CMD box pop up then type "ping google.com" [enter]

Let me know what you see.

Easy for you to solution the problem with IE...

simple, turn computer off and put in the package. Sell it to somewhere.

Then buy Apple computer. Therefore, you will be happy. :D :D

IF rockdrummer suggestion doesn't work ( its just a simple change in protection mode if you are getting stopped explorer message. but since you are having issues with both IE and FireFOX, you might want to do the dance the secuirty tango window waltz found on Security Tango - Keep Your Computer Clean.

Worst advice ever. PowerOFF.

Why? OSX don't have many bugs like Windows do and why you think it's crap?

But you own a Macbook and you still dont like advice?

No, I do own MacBook Pro and I don't think that we should advice Alley to get Mac since she is just want know to how to fix the IE issues.

I'm suggesting Alley to use Google Chrome.

The system recovery is more like re-image and AlleyCat will lost her/his files if she/he use re-image. The restore system is junk and almost never will work at all.

OSX is almost repair-free. :)
