Nasty subject!....I've got one. A friend told me she had them on both feet. And the doctor pulled the nails out. That sounds extreme to me! And painful!

I've been soaking the toe in hot water to soften it up, then clipping the ingrown nail out. It came back (the pain) after a month or so. Anyone else have a suggestion?

My dad's ingrown toenail was so bad he required surgery. That's an extreme case, though.

I suppose the soaking and clipping on the regular should help. It might be something you'll have to have to keep an eye on.

Perhaps, you did it wrong?

Sometimes, if you clip it out... it may seem fine. But it wasn't done 100%.

It could be a piece of nail that's left in there that's causing the pain.

Don't clip it any more, you are just introducing more sharp edges along the toe's edges. Use peroxide on a daily basis to keep it clean. When it needs to be cut, use a file instead. File the nail slightly flat across, but leave the sides alone! YES it will take a few minutes, but you will be able to smooth it out a bit so you can live with it.

my step-brother had surgery both toes dues stomp of cows!! that painful and he went another doctor in KS or Mo have problems with toes for shown..But its hard to grown toes since my step-brother's surgery.
