curious i know some aders are in back 50's, 60's, and 70's..

I have a question..

Do clothes comfortable you in back years?

Do your furnitures so comfortable and cozy?

Do your bed make u relax?

Tell us what is your best memories in 50's 60's and 70's.

All i know is that 70's is much fun, hippie, too much parties.

Im so so curiuos.

Im in 70's which i born 1979 close to end the 1970's.. going to 80's world Yippe Yahoo!
 
Do clothes comfortable you in back years? the clothes of the 70s SUCKED! :lol: they were U G L Y with bell bottoms and flared shirts and shit like that :barf: i preferred the clothes from the 80s hehe

i was born in 1969 -- so my pre teen years were spent in the 70s and my teen years were spent in the 80s :lol:
 
I was only 5 years old when 1980 started, so it is hard to remember the 1970s.
I do remember a few things though, my mum's brownish flowery curtains covering the entire living room walls, orange carpet, wooden turntable for the record player, big orange swivel chair, huge TV with wooden console, and huge black sofa. Our kitchen used to be yellow. My parent's bedroom had red wooden closet, red white blue blanket cover (to celebrate 200 years USA), orange blanket, etc... My mum drove a Pontiac (light green) and my dad drove a black Volkswagen beetle. As a kid, we wore shirts and sweatshirts with numbers on them... it seemed to be popular back then.

I was born in 1968, so my experiences are similiar to Fly's here. I don't remember the 60s at all. Barely remember some things in the later 70s. I was a teen in the 80s, so that's my decade.

The 1980s ROCKED! :smash:

I remeber seeing my dad's old picture.. he had a long hair, long beard, he s so hippe guy, he involded with many music group that he played.. he drove 1965 firebird and he told me himself when he's 18 he work for budwesier co :eek: i was so shocked oh yeah i remeber that school has a orange carpet :barf: it's so ugly

Myself I don't know why orange carpet is so popular in back like i did went to my old school in Minn state acadmey for the deaf they had a orange carpet and green curtin drape in 1994 i was like damn it's so much old but now they improvement and change it to a umm tan or cream.
 
I don't know much about the 70's but, I do remember much about the 80's I remember I wore this pin that has feathers, wore it on my hair back in Jr. High. :giggle:

I remember those shirts that I had during the 80's and still wore them in the 2000 and my friends said to me Isn't that the 80's outfit? I was like, How did you know that? LOL.

i remmy i used to ALWAYS wear a barette that had white lace bow on it for work when i used to work for a restaurant on the weekends and school breaks when i was still in HS when my hair was so LONG down to my waist :lol:
 
I remember my parents being hippies and party animals - they threw parties so much and used fondue pots. Marijuana was in the air. That was so popular in 1970's.

We also had that huge orange Suburban - waaaaaaaaaaaaay before it became popular now! My father had a van with bean bags so that was awesome.

I started high school in 1981 - I was a total preppie. I wore polo shirts with Alligators, boat shoes, faded/ripped levis, duck boots, monogrammed sweaters with pearls. Sweet Sixteen, St Elmos Night and Breakfast Club were very popular movies.

I have great memories of 1970s and 1980s ...I dont really remember much of 1990. I really think that 1970s was the best decade ever :)

Ohhhhhhh MY GODDDDDDDD Alligators polo shirts.. it's so AWESOME.. I miss to wear it when i was so little girl it so so popular in back years
 
I grew up in 60's.

Girls and women had to wear dress, they were comfy dress compare to today. I loved to wear dress but hate boys who love look under dress. In 1972 they allowed us to wear pants to school. I worn pants till high school and felt safer from the boys.

I hate that couch and kitchen chairs, they were covering with plastic and so yellow. So ugly and cold to sit on them. Bed were comfy. No dishwasher, no color tv, ugly cars ( we had pink car), weido hairs, more freespirit than today.

I thought 60's was more hippier than 70's. 70's show on TV were alike that for me while I was a teenager. Couple of time we had to drive thru the knolls and passed Charles Manson's home with much hippie followers back in 60's. We were frightening every time we drove and pass them. Bikers were bad back then.

Lol, Meg, that sure brings back memories! I remember clothes being SO comfortable in the 70's, particularly the jungle boots I always wore, lol.
I was kicked out of a hippie commune when I started smoking weed. True hippies did not do drugs back then.
 
I was born in 1951, so I remember the 60's and 70's.

Clothing? I attended public school, and girls wore skirts and dresses; no slacks or shorts allowed. High school girls' skirts had to touch the knees. Boys had to wear shirts with collars and shirts tucked in. Boys could not have any facial hair or hair below the collar.

The first few years that I wore stockings, they were stockings with separate garter belts; no pantyhose yet. Not comfortable!

Almost all clothing and linens (table cloths, bed sheets, hankies) required ironing. I remember my mom ironing almost every night, and keeping damp clothes wrapped in a towel in the refrigerator.

Fixing our hairdos was a pain. If we wanted "big" hair, we used old juice cans (washed out, with the ends removed) for hair rollers. If we wanted straight hair (like Cher), we ironed it on the ironing board with the clothes iron. The only hair gel was "Dippity Do", and no one had blow dryers; we had to use "bonnet hood" hair dryers. If a girl had an important date on Saturday night, she would put her hair in rollers, tie a scarf over it, and leave it up all day.

In high school, the popular "look" for girls was tan skin, white nail polish and lipstick, and heavy dark eye make-up. If you were "ethnic" or hippie, you got your ears pierced (one pair); if you were WASP, you used screw-on or clip earrings.

FF, I had a large yellow beanbag chair at my old childhood home too!!! And I was born the same year you did - 1969! :)

The 1970s was about bushy sideburns (think porkchop muttons on men), long straight hair on women (down to their waist!!), plaid everywhere!! I remember my Dad's 1970s glasses -- thick black frames that looked almost like Buddy Holly's (1950s singer). Yikes. Men also wore striped plaid pants, and women wore their hair really big and tall. One of my uncles used to call his wife's hair back then "Kong head" because of that hairstyle. LOL The 1970s fashions was kind of ugly. :)
 
I guess I am Reba's male alterego in the 50's ,60's, and 70's. Everyone loved "their" generation teen years. Mine ended a bit early with a certain overseas vacation that changed my perspectives, but my childhood memories of the fifties and early 60's are good. Clothes fashions and hair dos were progressive from what came before, furniture became more "futuristic", some less comfortable, some more so. There was a retro interest in early American furnature, amply stuffed and comfortable. Economics post war were a boom, and money was there for recreation that our grandparents had never experienced. I guess every decade's fashions look dorkey when viewed from the future. And bad memories have a way of fading into the background. No one remembers the Nehru shirts now. Though ladies sometimes wear what we knew as "Beatle Boots".
