I dont blame him for that. I understand what was going on. I know he made a mistake. Well, good venting sweetie..

Whoa... everyone needs to calm down. If something happens, there's no need to create a public thread and/or start making accusations or assumptions before an explanation is given.

There will be times when things change because there isn't a rule regarding it. Birthday threads were made "Sticky" as a kind gesture by moderators.

Lately, we've been having a huge increase in members. Let's say we have 100 members... that's an average of 1 sticky birthday thread for every few days. (Leaving it as sticky for a few days would make us have a sticky thread ever time we sign on AllDeaf.) When the number gets to over 300, that's a sticky birthday thread for almost every day. (This would have multiple sticky threads every time we sign on.) When the number gets to 5,000... that's at least 13 sticky birthday threads a day and it would be annoying to have people come in AllDeaf and having to scroll down all the time because we've prioritized every birthday thread as being important. (Even worse, we leave them for a few days and that goes from 13 sticky threads to 30 or 40 sticky threads every time we sign on.) When we've got too many sticky threads, then we have have to re-prioritize things again.

I live in the dorms. If someone has a birthday and other people want to announce that birthday, they simply decorate that person's door. As usual, those decorations will be taken down the next day because our birthday is for only one day.

Here in AllDeaf, if we made a thread sticky for a day then unstick it afterwards... people will still find out anyway because it shows up as a new/unread thread by those who haven't seen it yet.

My birthday is often missed by a lot of people. I would rather be recognized by at least one person than to not be recognized at all. If at least one person comes up to me and says, "Happy Birthday!"... I'm happy. If my birthday thread was made sticky for a day and at least one person posted saying, "Happy Birthday!"... I'd be happy and satisfied.

As for this new idea to have a new sub-category, that's a great idea... it would certainly save us moderators a lot of time from having to "Stick" every birthday thread all the time. :thumb:
