Who has witness an ice storm? I never saw an ice storm cause in maryland it rarely gets below 10 degrees.Even ice happens in maryland late evening by morning ice starts to melt. I saw trees frozen in ice on the weather channel but never experanced in one. So share your photos of ice storms here and perhaps tell us about it.

yep that happened back in Jan or Feb of 1998 -- it was awesome but sheesh there were MAJOR traffic jam EVERYWHERE in teh county and countless accidents its unbelievable -- schools closed before lunch and all the bus services were behind schedules, metro subway got behind schedule too and if i recall right there was also a subway accident too caused by that ice storm

after the snowstorm's over and the road start to freezes around 6pm, there's alot of accidents alert all over the town!

Well, it wasn't awesome in Quebec and Northern Ontario, that's for sure. Several people died because of the Ice Storm of 1998.

I don't have any pictures, but I do remember two years ago when we had a bad ice storm in Rochester, New York. It was very foggy overnight, and that caused a lot of moisture to build up on everything and then freeze. Of course, this went on long enough for things to have up to five inches of solid ice!

One thing I saw was during a project I was doing with my group. The railroad crossing gates were down. Apparently, the ice on them were built up so thick that it became too heavy for the gates to stay up. As a result, the lights went on automatically and the gates stayed down. Some railroad technicians had to use hammers to break off the ice. After a hour, they finally got enough off for the gates to rise back up on their own.

Another place was near Tops, a local grocery store. My girlfriend and I had gone to Blockbuster to rent a few movies. Afterwards, we saw a bunch of weird thick rope-like stuff hanging from lightposts to lightposts. We never remembered seeing anything like that before. We didn't even know there were ropes or anything. The weird thing was that it was actually super-thick nylon-string connecting all lightposts throughout the whole parking lot. That night, ice was built up on them enough to become one inch thick. Imagine these hanging from lightpost to lightpost at 100 yards apart. Put one inch thick worth of solid ice on it... and what do you get? Yep, heavy strings! The weight was so hard on the strings that they hung as low as two feet above the ground. Some of them even broke. I approached one of them and held it in my hand. It was thicker than your ordinary garden hose! Whoa!

yikes Banjo! :(

awesome view yes and u do have a point it can also be a killer storm as well :(

We had a rain/snow becomes ice storm twice the day before Christmas Eve, Everyone in Ohio got stuck everywhere and plus in Columbus they were out of power. Again a few days ago we also had the same problem, at night where the trees, signs, cars became icy so quick. It is horrible I hate it when it happens. :)

I have witnessed a ice storm here in Seattle and puget sound area in Jan 2004. It was below freezing for 3 days, we also had freezing rain and froze everything and caused accidents and icilings dangling on the power lines, houses, all that, it was beautiful and deadly. You could see trees look so white . It caused tons of power outages due to snapped branches. I don't have pictures of it though. :(

Yeah I remembered that one...
I actually stayed home instead of going to work for
almost 3 or 4 days cuz it's almost impossible
to go to my work office area because
it's located at the bottom downhills
with lot of trees surrounding
too much icy down there and too many
curvy roads to get there !!

I felt lucky and blessed cuz
my bosses understood and they always
encourage employees to stay home because
of their office location too dangerous for
any bad weather. Thats one of the reasons
why I'd like to get an offer to work at home.

I witnessed Ice Strom FOR MANY YEARS... Michigan always get Ice Storm every year... I love Ice Storm when it start storm until next day and you will stand there and looking at outside and look so BEAUTIFUL! I could ask my friend to giving me few pics of ice storm and I could put them in here and it is VERY VERY Beautiful.. EVERY WHERE are cover with ice! heh.. Maybe Im crazy? Ha...
