I tried, I failed

I had to wait for years to go back to school. I started with evening classes and it has been worth the wait---i now have more patience for homework!! i had to wait until my youngest was out of 1/2 day kindergarten( not enough money for college when i had to pay for daycare!) I wish you all the luck on finding the perfect school schedule!!! Don't give up!!

Shel, I just dont have the money to move period, not only that I dont even have the basic stuff I need like furniture, dishes, etc.

My plan was to finish the degree while working, then look for a job after I graduated while still working, and hope the job would be local - then I could start saving money up to move to a bigger school district where the pay would be better and I could afford a small house.

I have been waiting for 5 years to go back to school and to be honest I am tired of waiting. I want to go back now before I've worked in the poultry buisness for too long and I've lost my desire to go back.

only failed when you stop trying.

Ohh sorry about the overwhelm of the job, hope you can find other better job :)

Hey girl, You are not a failer cuz you didnt give up. Keep up your faith and your dream will come true. I know you can do it.

You didn't fail. It wasn't the right position for you. Anyway, you'll find a way and make it happen.

Look into financial assistance from university couldn't hurt.

Your definition of failure is harsh. Are you too hard on yourself?

Do you define yourself more by your ability to work than your ability to learn?

If you look for it, ye shall surely find it.

Too harsh maybe, but thats the way I was raised. There was no "Just OK", it was always "Thats good, but......" and whatever 'improvement' I could make.

Around my family, your work ethic has to be above par no matter what your ability to learn is.

What irritated me though was that normally I am one that gets stuff pretty quickly, and for some reason this time I didnt learn as fast I thought I could. I mean not overnight obviously, but at least within 3-4 days. It just felt like I wasn't learning; like I was stupid.
I have this obsession for self-control so I like to set the bar a little higher and force myself to meet that. When I miss my mark, its upsetting.

Now I am in a rush to catch up to my manager and speak with him about the possibility of working rotating shifts depending on my class schedule. I was told that was never done before, but the guy I spoke with said he didnt see any reason why it couldnt be done. I know it sounds like a half-baked idea given that this is NOT the norm in the poultry industry especially for a line worker, but I'm desperate to go back to school. I will ask to speak with him in the morning.

Finger crossed that he'll commit to making it more flexible for you.

It's good idea to buck against the system or work around the system, and thus make it more encouraging, not to mention flexible for any other workers who wants to go back to school, too.

My mother worked two jobs and were single-handlely raising 6 children while studying for a bachelor of education degree. I remember I was like 4 or 5 when she finally got her degree. She wanted to improve her prospects.

Then she went for her masters through correspondence when I was a teenager.

If there's way then there is. You just have to find it.

And I can be the 'trial and error' guinea pig so to speak. If works out then perhaps every summer they can draw names of those who are seeking higher education to work a rotating shift until the completion of the degree.

As long as we keep getting immigrants, I dont think there is really going to be a shortage of workers.

I will ask R----- and L--- about it in the morning.

Dixie,

Have you thought about giving plasma for extra money for your truck payment? Up here, I can make $70 per week by doing it twice.

I can't donate plasma, I have low iron levels plus hypoglycemia. Not only that there isnt a center near that takes plasma.
