I am confused by your post, You mean she told you not to look for a job or telling you that you're not looking because you taking deaf issue too hard?

Do I understand you correctly, ravensteve.

do you mean that your mom want you looking for a job? If yes, I think she´s right because you are a man and seeking a job to earn to support your own life but if you still live with your mother, it means that you has to support her for keep you in her house because of bills, foods, etc. are expensive. Perhaps she need a support from you?

Why she say this to you for a first time?

How long have you been unemployed?

You got it backwards I WANT A JOB!! Im tired of sitting here and chat all day,,She says im deaf,,,Until my problem is resolved im not doing anything!

How about being a man, and proving your Mother wrong?! Ever thought about that? It beats being on here whining, pissing and moaning about how rotten your life is.

You're what 42? Your mom has to learn to let you have your life to do whatever you wish to do. :thumb:

ravensteve1961 - if you receive some kind of government funding, then your mother might want to contact somebody over at Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and have her ask them questions about deaf and work. Maybe with DVR, they can convince your mother, that you're able to work whether you're deaf or not! :)

Brian thats what she wants to do first...Wait till the goverment get my SSI then i can go look for a job

STOP WHINING!! you are a man.. Don't be a coward!!! get your butt off chair and go out pick up applications anywhere like Home Depot, Wal Mart, McDonalds.. Have you gone to college?? If you have a degree in a field of major, find job related to what you recieved your degree in!!!! I plan to find job after or little before I graduate from college!!!

Steve, do you go pee without asking your mommy? It's your life!!! Get off your ass and find a job!!!

I agree here.. I do live with my mom. I found job as a student senator/unpaid lobbyist, and always find something to do instead of sitting my ass on couch all day at home everyday. Good thing campaigning also keep me busy! I don't ask mom to if I can pee or not.. I don't let my mom control me, sometimes she try to but I always rebel.. like she hate it when I ride bus at late night.. I told her I am thankful that we moved by new place, and that only way I can get around since it's my car, and see that I depend less on people for rides. Metro Mobility are out of question since it cost more than bus, and if I go somewhere far or after 6pm on saturday (bus limit on sat only), it's different story. I am not 16 anymore, and I am 23!!! I can manage on my own. RS61, you need to be less depend on people!! I learned my lesson!!! I used to depend on ppl alot for ride when live at old house since bus service was limit, and they decided to stop give me ride so I had to walk 1 to 3 miles from bus stop to home... now I am much happy and more indepdent!!!!

Dude, my parents want me to stay home with them. Yet, I'm here at RIT getting my education. I've also lived on my own for years. I find it very hard to believe that you live with your mom at the age of 43 while talking like you know everything about the goverment and the police. Are you sure you're really 43? Maybe, you're actually 3?

I move out my own when i was 18 year old and i don't bother to depend my parents for the help... U really can walk out from the house and get yourself a job... Applying the job isn't that so so hard...

U can go to deaf center and ask some help for jobs.

:werd: There's lots of things you can do to boost your self worth. You have to try. Waiting around for hearing to return is really kind of stupid, Steve. Are you just gonna put your life on hold like that? Why not make good use of your time. Learn ASL, or heck, research hearing aids.

Granted, there might not be any out there that would help, but you never know until you try. Have you looked at different options besides the CI? I don't think so. You're so focused on pipe dreams, that you're refusing to see things more simply. Perhaps, a digitial HA might help you while you're waiting for something else? Have you found out how much residual hearing you have left? Have you tried to boost that? There's LOTS of things you can do here, but you have to be the one do it. No one is going to do it for you.

Raven,
