Hmm I don't know anybody in AD. There's very few that I've already met in person in here. I'm here just for social, and to bring humor and entertain or post news on what's happening in the world.

I take my time to get to know anyone online, and I don't make friends in an instant. It takes time :)

Or ride your horse as alternative :giggle:

I don't know all ADers. There is only very few I know that I have met in real life as I know them way before AllDeaf website set up in 2002.

Hey ya, same as me too... I only met two people from the same country. Its not the end of your life! U will meet some of them in real life and give it time.

I put my picture on the picture thread, but no one screamed out,"hey I know you", so I guess I don't know anyone either. But in real life I mostly socialize with my family anyway. I think it is very nice:D here, and a nice non threatening way to have fun.

I have not met anyone yet,but I have made a lot of friends here on AD and one day I will meet them.

Of course... I just waltzed in and started to chat. Only have met one ADer via videophone but no in real life yet. Soon will meet many of USA ADers at various EXPO.

It does not matter if you dont know anyone. Just keep talking and someone will be interested in what you are talking about.

I did not know anyone from AllDeaf.com when I'd joined.

I've met, at one point or another, with some ADers before I would know who they were on AllDeaf.com.

I will always embrace them in person. I always welcome any sign of humanity.

17 times (I have a scorecard on my monitor's side) I've been contacted by people via AIM and Yahoo!, claiming to know me via AllDeaf.com.

All who you interact with via AllDeaf are human - I'd like to believe and all are unique; not duplicates. Some fascinate me; some come up with so many questions that I'm, quickly, turned off.

Ultimately, your self-view of your self-value is put to the test here. There is, overall, respect for each other (even though, some of us have choice words to make you believe differently).

Be yourself and be strong. You can tell a tree by its fruit. If your fruit is not rotten, then you've nothing to worry.

Keep your chin up.

I don't think it's about rushing yourself to get to know one or another in AD or anywhere else.

Let's think of this in another way - Supposedly, You're at a store and you want to buy a new shoe. You've found the pair of shoes you've wanted. The first time you wear the new pair, it sort of doesn't feel comfortable because you need the time to "break" in to get comfortable wearing the shoes. In time, when you're wearing the same pair of shoes after a while, you start to get yourself accustomed to wearing the shoe. In the end, you finally break yourself into it and you're wearing it comfortably with no problem.

This is the same idea as if you're at anywhere or in AD. When you're new to a place, people are sort of leery but when you start to come out more often to interact with others, that is when you start to find your place around here or at other places. Hence, you're able to "break" yourself in and to find your place in order to make friends. So with that, it takes time and eventually it will prevail.

As for me, I only knew very few people in AD before I joined here. After a while, I became to get to know more people and met them in real life. The bottom line is - it is not all about you. It is about going with the flow rather than being too hard on yourself and not being able to feel left out as well.

Hope that helps. :)

Don't worry if you haven't met anyone yet. That time will probably come in the near future. :)
