Hypocrisy in Six Flags' Deaf Awareness Day?

It's "Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Day," and not "Deaf and ASL Awareness Day."

The majority of deaf and hard of hearing people in the United States do NOT know or use sign language to communicate. We're talking 99.6% of the deaf and hh population (30+ million people) who do not know sign language.

while it's open to all - I'm guessing most non-signer deafies are not going and this event is most likely 99.6% deafies who can sign. Kinda like... while most "Patriotic Biker Rallies" are open to all - it's mostly 99.6% harleys.

Wow, you don't understand about what means so I guess that Lucia is right about you need close your mouth.

You took too much on just small issue, that's not big deal.

Good example.

The title isn't matters to me.

You haven't read my blog have you?

I've read a post or two of it a long time ago.

Why, did you start a petition on there? If so, awesome. So then there really is no point to this thread at all.

:io:

Communication access is a big deal. Now, you are admitting it isn't?

Figures.

Sure, there is a point to this thread and that is to raise awareness.

It isn't big deal for us.

If it was big deal to you so take somewhere instead of whine here.

:hmm: Still think a petition or letter to Six Flags would work better.

Deaf Awareness Day is just fine and no need change.

Kokonut is just whine about small issue so that's his problem.

Does AD say that this is a Deaf-only discussion forum? This is about recognizing the shortfall that Six Flags is doing when they advertise "Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Day" when inside the park there is no communication access for those who don't know or know very little sign language in places where ASL interpreters are located.

I don't think you understand. Six Flags is advertising it as a "Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Day," and not "Deaf Awareness Day." Go look at their link in my first post.

Alldeaf is for EVERYONE, EVERYONE and EVERYONE.

It is just forum, nothing is event.

Deaf Awareness Day at Six Flags is event for deaf/HoH people, regardless on sign language skills, even deaf people with CI go here too.

Both of them are same, don't matters.
