For me, if Sony has EVER changed the price before launch, I would proably be more satifised. I would proably pay around $300 or $400 for a PS3 since that is ENOUGH cash but $500 or $600 is way more than enough and I don't like it. You even would have to pay about $250 for memory sticks, a $40 additical controller, and $60 PS3 games. The PS3 lacks the memory card slots that would allow you to play PS and PS2 games on it so that tells me that it's a possiblity that it's going to have an emulation software that would allow you to play some of the top selling titles and lets you save the games ONLY on HDD. So, honestly, even if you have a job, would you really want to buy that when you still need alot of money for bills, taxes, clothes, and even food? at least I'm thankful that I still enough cash for food and clothes myself, after I've bought $300 Xbox360 at launch so c'mon...did Ken really make the right choice and even the right argument for saying that the PS3 is a pretty cheap product for blu-ray discs? I would have to agree with him on this AS a blu-ray player, since most blu-ray players are over a thousand dollars! but as a videogame console? NO FUCKING WAY. I love games, but why do I need another "computer" to play games? I thought "Playstation" is meant to play games...not "Movies station" for watching blu-ray movies!

$600...and to think if you are quite familiar with videogame history such as 3DO, which was a $700 console at launch and then later failed and died due to price and poor third party support. Anyone remembered the PSX that was a DVR, DVD, CDRW, included a HDD and other things was about $650 or more. Then it failed miserably as well.

For more information on the PSX, click here:

I feel that the PS3 is a repeat of the PSX...well good luck Sony fanboys.

$400 seems reasonable if PS3 use HD-DVD ROM instead of blu-ray, HDMI input, 60GB HDD and memory stick then our problem will solve.

I have accept to get PS3 but don't matters if blu-ray disc and game cost will same compared with DVD/HD-DVD ROM for xbox 360.

I am thinking of getting PS3 4 months after it's arrival date so I can be sure to get a good system. I am realizing that Xbox 360 controller has changed when I pluged it in my PC. I have old xbox controller with convertor port adapter to PC for Nascar Thunder 2004 PC. I like to use left and right triggers for braking and accerlator. In control setting in Nascar Thunder 2004... the braking and acceraltoring axises are different which is very good for racing (left is SO axis and right is S1 axis). But with the 360 controller both left and right triggers are the same axis (left is RZ+ axis and right is RZ- axis) which is very bad for racing and conflicts in braking and accleratoring when pressing them at the same time. I was very disappointed after learning this. Old xbox controller are better at racing than this 360 controller. Cant do the burnouts with 360 controller. But you can do other way on xbox 360 like Right Trigger for Acceltrating and Right stick down for Braking. I prefer old xbox controller. So I am hoping PS3 will do better and it has 60 gb which is good thing. I will own both systems anyhoo.

How much would I pay for a PS3? Zero...because there's no reason to have a show off on your entertainment center while you work full time and have a girlfriend and a busy life. There's no time involved playing too many video games. A few games is enough just to kill time.

I won't buy PS3 until PS3's price goes down. No one wants to whether buy it for a high price. Suppose if PS3 has still sale on every store for one year, then it will be able to reduce the price as no one wants to buy it. I'd wait to buy PS3 for $300 to low.

you will have to wait 3-6 months to get previous owner for lower cost. i am sure it will cost between $550 to $575 :)

I'd rather wait until the price drops before buying mine. The last console I bought at release was the Playstation 2. I paid $400 for it. I learned my lesson and decided to wait longer for other consoles. I got my Xbox for $170 and Gamecube for $150. :)

Rite.

eh, as of right now, I won't be able to afford the PS3 no matter if it cost 300 or 600, not to mention the cost of the games as well, the ps2 will probably entertain me for a couple more years.
