How many of you have sat on a train/bus with a person who smelled TERRIBLE?

Just think....100 years ago, everyone wore heavy clothing during the summer, and deodorant was not widely available....not to mention people took baths once a month.

That reminds me...I better take my yearly shower soon....looks like mold growth on my left butt cheek....

Too much info. I'll be hitting the showers before I hop on the Illini this Friday.

I used to stink after working a shift at Jack-in-the-Box. That's life.

Ah well. Food Service DOES make one sweat-- it is true-- I used to be in that industry.

To answer your question...I have taken the subway in NYC, the metro in DC, the Megabus from DC to NYC several times, and buses in Phx and there are stinky people all over. So yes. Just try to bear with it but at the same time, I feel bad if the person is homeless. If the person has poor personal hygiene, that's sad as well. Could be someone who is from a different culture, drug addict, has a terminal illness and is on meds with a side effect of making body ordor strong, or just simply don't care.

Wanted to add, I spray cologne on my husband before he leaves the house and before he enters the house. LOL

My rottweiler Zeus often rides shotgun with me. He has a bad breath because he never mastered the art of brushing his teeth. It's a guy thing between the 2 of us that we understand.

Like I said earlier, I doubt the guy was homeless, nor do I think he had poor personal hygiene-- I just think he has a job that doesn't make him smell great after work (like a garbage truck, maybe? He sure smelled like one) Otherwise, how did he have good quality cigarettes and shopping bags? I observe pretty well, and I saw all of that. I also don't think he's happy at his job, either.

Oh, man. You're cracking me up tonight. Good way to go to bed tonight and sleep in before I wake up tomorrow night.

Every day that I worked in Boston for three years with my last employer. There was a young man, that I *thought* worked out in the mornings and showered because his hair was always wet. Turns out he was just a pig. He smelled so bad waiting outside for the train that I had to move way down the platform. I've no idea who sat next to him but I felt sorry for anyone near him. I'm actually amazed no one kicked him off the train for smelling so offensive. He never bathed and smelled and looked like this everyday. Change of clothes but nothing ever touched soap.....:barf: He always had a backpack, which makes me wondered if he was taking a class, how it is the teacher never said anything.....

When I was a health aide there where some clients that smelled really bad. Some health aides would put Vick in their nose so they would smell that instead of the person.

I've had clients that smell heinous, a few were regulars, one smelled like a cat box, but it was his BO, an obese woman that it was like giving a massage with a jock strap strapped to your face and another lady that it was just her head, omg it smelled awful. She was getting hair transplants for like forever. Had done smelly other people but those three I knew were going to smell so I'd put a drop of the essential oils we used to add to lotion for aromatherapy sessions on the skin between my nose and lip. All very nice people, just really freaking rank.

One of my biggest pet peeves is people who dont brush their teeth so they have food and smelly mouth. I really dont know what to do. I feel like putting lots of toothbrushes and toothpastes on my purse and be like...."here have a free toothbrush and toothpaste, go brush your teeth." But then i imagen that might be rude.....
