I've been looking for a house to rent.....I went on craigslist a few days ago, found several....and responded to them via email. I got this email today, it's a scam! So now, I'm headed to a Realty company to find one! I will not deal with craigslist again.....Here's the email sent to me.....

Hi,

I did get your response concerning the AD I posted on craigslist. The house is still available but presently I'm not around.. I did bid for a portion of petroleum land sometimes ago in West Africa and fortunately I won the bidding so I have to move quickly down to Africa to have my company set up because I will still have to rebid for it in the next 10 years. I came over here with my wife, we both built the house when we got married. As soon as we settle down here I had a thought of selling the house so I have to look for an agent, after getting one, we got a deal but later my wife advised against that... She said we may not be able to win the bidding next time, in other to keep our head when we return that we have to keep the house. I reasoned with her and accepted her advise. So I contacted the agent back and requested for my keys and documents. Later we decided to have the house rent out, we would have give the same agent this job also but the truth of the matter is that the agent would want to handle it professionally and the occupant may not be able to reason along with him later. If you notice, you will discovered that the price we are offering is far below standard price, this is enough for you to know that we are not after the rental fee but the absolute care for the property. I know there is no way I can be sure that you are the right person to live in the house because we won't be able to see physical before sending you the keys and the documents to occupy the space. But I just had a feeling that anyone who knows what it takes to put the kind of structure down should know that maintaining a building is mandatory, so if you belief you can take good care of the house and handle it like yours then I will be more than happy to let you rent the house.

Sicko!!!! :mad2:

My friend had screwed up with roommate from Craiglist! :ugh:

Ugh, that's so sick and just report to cragslist.

I bet Nigerian scammers want you to send security deposit via Western Union or Money Gram, or mail via USPS.

Sounds suspicious. If you still want to put a disposit, put it in escrow first. Find out if he does in fact own the house and if he has a realtor that will act as a landlord.

This is an actual Nigerian scammer. Please do report it to Craig's List and, perhaps the Jacksonville-Duval PD as well.

Now we have to be very cautious with what/whom we deal with in the cyberworld.

never using that websites of craigslist!!

but you should find apartment in your hometown not on craigslist!!

I will not deal with craigslist again......

Not important to let us know.
Are you panic as chicken scream "the stars will fall from the sky"?

I still use craigslist. Sometime, I got email from scammer then ignore them. What is their waste time to write long story plus ask me or your personal information.

Sometime, I made report to craigslist if I found too many ads at many different places. Let them to remove as many possible or flag.

Last spring, one of my co-worker asked me know who is name person (I forget her name). I do not know who is her. He explained me that he got email, the lady is going to sell her BMW. Retired from National Deaf Mute Association. Her husband is passed away. Plan to move in with her sister in France. Ask for deposit $100. We knew it is scammer!!!

I told co-worker that most deaf people get angry/piss off to see "Deaf-Mute". Long time ago, I worked at NAD. They refuse to use deaf-mute for long time.

nah I never been in craiglist but i heard bad news about it.. so I basically avoid that site ;)

Cragislist IS IN MY HOME TOWN!! They are all over the USA....

And I'm not looking for "an apartment"! I've 3 kids, we are looking for a nice house.......Newspapers are .75 cents...I'm not gonna pay that, and of course there usually is a Realtor fee. So in order to "save us $$"....I thought to try Craigslist.....

Craigslist is good for Free Stuff....Garage Sales, etc. But, never again for "Houses/Apartments for Rent"....

I'm also driving and looking....I'm sure I'll find something soon.
