Do you ever have hot water heater broke?

Our hot water heater broke because it was very old. Their water spilled over the floor and carpet. My husband and I had to remove the water from the floor and capert all night. It was not easy job! Carpet was smelling bad for temp. We had no hot water in 4 day. GRR We bought a wet wipes for clean ourselves because we cannot handle cold water. brrrr!! Our landlord finally bought a new hot water heater. (We rent a house.) My husband installed them and we got hot water!
 
Happened to me last month but our hot water heater is outside. I went to Home Depot, bought another one, installed it, and we were up and running again within 3-4 hours.

Yikes I hope that does not happen to me.

I would soooooo hate to have to clean up the mess!!! Ugh...
 
It happened to my mom and me. Let me tell ya about my mom first.

She didnt realized that her hot water heater broke. For a few days that when she realized there was no hot water so she went down stair and found flooded in the basement. I was like this :eek3: and went MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM my stuffs!!!! So she ordered another hot water heater and clean up the mess. My mattress sure is not good now cuz of the smelling. Whewwwwwwwwwwww!!! My other stuffs was ok. Thanks goodness I only lost just a few stuffs.

Now my turn.

My exh with his current wife was living with me at that time in my mobile home. My hot water heater was outside. So my exh was telling me there was a leaking of my hot water heater which damage the plug and some wiring too. So I went out to buy a new heater and call the guys to fix it. I found the cheaper one and he did it during the snow storm. :eek3: So it was done fix. Whewwwwwww yea my exh :pissed: at me for making him pay 1/2 of the cost of the installation. Too bad he and his wife lived there and was using the hot water too. :P at them. Now it is 4 yrs old. Still good and got my wiring fix. Thanks goodness. Funny thing is I can still have hot water but it didnt last long like the new one does. Rats!!!

Poor your ex had to install during the snow came. Why you let your ex and his wife live with you? I will never never let my husband's ex wife or my ex husband to live with us. If you dont want tell me about it. That is okay with me.
 
yes the water heater did broke.. i was drunk and i was walking and grab hold of the water heater and i just went down with it.. water everywhere.. LOL.. opps! my mom was MAD at me.. i was like im sorry.. so next day i had to help and clean the mess up.. amazing the water heater still works.. lucky.. jeez duh me.. LOL

other itme it did broke.. it was slow leaking.. we didnt think nothing of it.. then next month electricity bill came.. it was high?? so we looked around to see why.. mom said heard something leaking every day but where? so we looked and looked .. found our leak.. water heater under floor under the house.. finally my nephew jeremy came and he fixed that.. now no more leaking! whew! next month electricity bill came.. its low.. whew! hehe :)

My exh didnt fix it as he was supposed to but we had an arguement and then I ended up hiring someone else and made my exh to pay half of the service. So that is why he was :pissed: at me too bad. Yea they live with me for a while cuz he lost his apt and brought home his new wife that he lied to me behind my back. So I finally kicked them out after 2 months. Cuz I aint gotta let them stay too long as they think so.

I cannot believe that you did something with hot water heater during you was drunk. I never hear this story before. LOL

Honest, We didnt realize that our electricity bill was so high. We thought it was my stepson because he always open his bedroom window during winter. We got mad at him. Now we know that hot water heater cause our electricity bill high. Grrr But we got new one so it will be fine.

Yes, our water heater broke a few years ago. Our water heater is in the garage, so the water just ran out the garage, down the driveway. No damage to the house.

I wish that hot water heater, laundry can be in garage instead inside or outside. I hate them in house because of leaking. We rather have them in garage but we didnt build the house. We have to live a place if we can afford. Someday we might want build a house, we will ask builder to put those in garage.
 
The water tank was broke from upstairs neighbor. It was replaced in 1989. The water was leaking through the kitchen ceiling and walls. It was ruined on the picture frame, etc.. I was so pissed off and called landlord.

We had to repaint the walls and ceiling. It was a big messy !

Big Mess! They didnt ruin our walls. Did landlord pay the hot water heater and painting and your labor?
 
Yup, I had installed drainage in case it breaks. That is my insurance policy. Those hot water heater should have the leak catch pan to catch the leak and drain them out without doing any damages. I know my hot water heater life expectany is 6 years, so I have 2 years to go before I get it replaced. There are models that would last 15 years, but 40 gallons, with tweety small burner? No thanks! I want bigger one with hotter burner so that we never runs out of water. The only negative is that it has shorter life span. sigh
 
NYS? Yup! But not as bad as California! Try California, and you won't like it! They are number 1 strictest of all. Pennsylvania, only in major cities.

LOL i know its hard to believe that i did something wild especially while i was drunk but its a true story.. LOL>. i forgot to add something.. the pipe did broke a little.. just replaced it.. thats it.. lmao.. hehe..

the water heater is in the back of the old house and is on concerete floor.. so that helps..

but now my mom moved to trailer.. the water heater is in my niece's bedroom closet.. ouch! not good! jeez..
 
old water heater flooded my trailer in the morning I started to smell funny and found inside laundry room. my ex-wife could not hear but too late it already flooded and contiunes to leak fast everywhere on my floor while my kids and ex wife were sleeping. Lucky I was up early I rushed to shut down the water. Same day we had no water. I had to remove water heater out and shopped for new one. 40 years experince plumber is my good freind of my ex wife's mom's helped me to put. He taught me what to install. I learned. Carpet and inside vents were flooded. Had to drian all water out of vents under the trailer cand clean. Terrible day during cold that sucks. Afternoon the water was back. That was so headaches!

I have insurance on trailer and the man came to inspect the floor and damaged. The insurance gave me 2,000 dollars! Few hundred I spent was new water heater.
 
wow, it must be sucker for you to handle like this. I hope it doesn't happen to me. *knock on the wood*
