Homelessness Claims Growing Number of Unemployed Middle Class

Yeah, that is my plan. I am working on finding the best route to work and back home so I could save money from spending on gas and could get extra money to get my car fixed. I have ORCA card which I can use it for any transit in the metro area. :)

Oh nice, for me, if there's any cars aren't work or has problem then I have call in off or call taxi (ridiculous expensive) or ask my relative to transport me to work.

I'm not too sure if I qualify because I owe SS a lot of money.

Oh really, I don't know.

I used to owe alot of money to SS but not anymore because I had fought so hard to get wavier from SSI overpayment, it wasn't my fault.

Medicaid is state run system, not federal, so it varies from state to state. FYI

Well, you got some lucks because your area offers public transportation and it seems good for backup if you need hold the car for replacement.

For area without public transportation is no fun, you wouldn't have no way to go to work but only option is call taxi, that cost alot.

Still state makes the decision on HOW to hande medicaid. NYS, every county gets tax money from sales tax to pay medicaid not federal, however Federal do subside some, not 100%. Only two states have medicaid paid by each counties, and my homestate is one of them.

Medicaid is under federal that provides an funds to state, also it's part of social security.

I asked my hearing friend and he said medicaid got funds from federal, known as under social security.

If you don't believe then whatever.

Then howcome I kept hearing county executives kept complaining about shortage of medicaid funds and wants to jack up taxes for medicaid? I have heard enough. Yes its been in newspapers, so I believe in newspaper not hearing friends.

Of course the numbers of the homeless are becoming very noticeable and it is not due entirely to medical costs. I am almost done building an extra bedroom in a house for people evicted from their previous home, and I am certain the number of people that will live in that house will exceed that allowable by law. I do not think law enforcement will even bother investigating that. (In fact, more and more police departments are refusing to evict people from their foreclosed homes.) It is pretty sad, but the more networking you do (i.e., have many friends), the better off you are. Ah well.
I am so bushed but I expect a lot more of this type of work. :(

I read a story somewhere about a police officer quitting his job after having to force a family with small children out of their home. It haunted him so much so he quit to work for an agency helping the homeless. It was a very touching story.

Medicaid costs are quite expensive, but there will always be monies available to fund it as well as Social Security. The government has been claiming that Social Security will be depleted every 20 years or so yet nothing has happened to date and I doubt it ever will. If we do reach the point where Social Security funding is limited, the government will step in and do everything they can to replenish it.

Medicaid is State funded program, while MediCARE is funded though Social Security, alot people confuse between these programs.

diehard,

Medicaid is funded by the government which makes it a federal program. It is run by the state, but it is federal in nature.

Yeah, I'm kinda between poverty and middle class and it is really hard for me to survive because of stupid shitload of debts and 2 part time jobs. It isn't really easy being in middle class, basically. Everything qualifies for poor people and that leaves middle class residents out in the cold.

Understood. There are people who fall thru cracks.... like you.

My sister is considered middle class. She's struggling with house payments and raising 2 teenage children. That doesn't even count her co-pays for doctor visits. I feel sorry for her because she works 13 hour days 7 days/week as a mail carrier and if it were not for that job, I doubt she could keep her head above water.

I happen to have Medicaid and Medicare. I'm very thankful for it too. I hate the BS when it comes to paperwork and insurance approval, but it's certainly better than nothing and the specialists I have are excellent.
