On my way to home from mall, I saw two hitchhikers. I never saw one until today. :eek: Isn't it illegal to hitch?

If you do not know a hitchhiker is. Here's the picture...

Nope, it's legal on certain parts of highways. Sometimes it's illegal in few states...
 
depend what state law say it is illegal or not or what kind of road that they can do or not ... it is illegal to have hitchhiker on highway !! they have to do it on major road or entrance to highway where they can do ...
 
BTW, we get a lot of hitchhikers here in Arkansas on the highways. It's just illegal to be on the interstate highways while it's legal for the hitchhikers to be around at the exits off the interstates. If a state trooper drives by and see you walking on the interstate highway..they'll pick you up and take you to the police station. :p
 
I've seen several hitchhikers...I just drive pass by them. I will not ever pull over to let them ride with me or whatever.
 
here is true story ....

I did stop by and pick the guy up during day time ... i told him I am deaf and where do u want to go ??? he say anywhere ... i say ok... i keep driving and notice that the guy pull out the paper and pen and start wrote .... i just keep my own business.. even we do token the joints together... and finally i drop him off somewhere else ... and he gave me the notice with smile face ... i was surprise to see that notes for me ... so i go ahead and read the notes and I was :jaw: that he said that he was meant to murder me but he has change his heart when he find out that i am deaf and give me warning to not pick anyone full period ... but he have pity on me and let me go ... otherwise i wouldn't be here by now ..

:shock: EEEEEEKKKK!!! You are sure damn lucky! You are :crazy: to pick him up but thank god nothing did happen to you! WHEW! Im sure you wont do that again :ugh: damn!

oh yeah i have heard many different story ... since i am among these story which it has happen ... otherwise it is value to share the experiences ..
 
I would never dare myself to pick up any hitchhiker nor a strangers either ways... otherwise if I see somebody I know, I'd use my handbrake and slam the car and yell at my friend to hop in!

we have ALOT of hitchhikers in CA and in Hawaii most of the hitchhikers here in hawaii are locals and some live near us, some just need a ride to the beach where they can surf dad picks them up when theres no way for them to get to places, SOME look homeless so we don t pick those poeple up. i have spotted of mom's co workers here in pahoa and i asked him if his car broke down he said YES and was going to be late if he couldn t get someone to take him so i drove him to work and told mom its not his fault the car just broke down so we called my dad and he came out to the car and found out the alternator blew, So we called the tow truck and had them take it to the mechanic next door and they fixed the car by the end of the day. before he got off work. and I drove back into town to check to see if he needed an escort back home and he said yah better to be safe, so we drove back into pahoa and got him home safe, he gave me 20 bucks i told him NO i did this on my own free will :) so i didn t mind cuz i had to be in town anyway for an appt. So it wasn't out of my way :)

I've seen hitchhikers everywhere in WY, especially Rawlins. :ugh: Rawlins is famous for prison in the state. I never brake for them so far. I will not even in the future. No way.

My dad did hitchhiked once because his pickup ran out of gas. Doh Dad! :lol: The first car went by stopped and picked Dad up. Lucky him.

My brother, his friend, and I did hitchhiked once because my brother's vehicle broke down at nowhere in the mountain. :ugh: I was so ill that time. I had to stop to throw up and then tried to catch up with the boys. :ugh: It wasn't fun. A man with a pickup and topper stopped and picked us up and dropped us off at the nearest isolated resturant. :ugh: Hate that day!

Good thing nothing happened to any of us when we were picked up. Whew!
 
And ofc I refuse pick anyone up at all unless I know who it is then I will pull ova and pick her/him up :D
