High gas prices boost motorcycle sales

I agree... Motorcycle insurance is rediciously higher than sport cars and SUV, some people told me about alot of complain with issues for motorcycle.

Motorcycle is bad to ride in rain, snow and other horrible weather, also most are poor fuel economy.

Motorcycle insurance is NOT ridiculously higher than sports cars, SUV's, etc!

No, you are wrong because I had checked compare between car and motorcycle then motorcycle is much more worse.

Neo is right and some of my friend sold out their motorcycle because they cannot afford high insurance rate.

Where are your citations?

I have two motorcycles, one's a 600cc and the other's an 1100cc and I have FULL coverage on both of them for 592.00 per year and this is in Southern California where bike riding occurs year round vs limited riding in the winter in most other States. Insurance is more for motorcycles than sports cars and SUV's? NO!

I don't believe you because most motorcycle are supposed to be cost more than $1,000 per year.

I'm still agree with Neo.

You don't even know me and I'm lying? Lol! I have no reason to lie about this or anything else in my life.

Ok, I have a 2000 SUV and a 2005 Ford pick up with again, FULL coverage and the insurance on both of them is $2,304.00 a year. That give you a better idea?

Are you under 25 years old? I bet you are female.

No, I am not; I am old enough to be your Daddy!

well, insurance is rediciously higher for young people like under 30 years old.

I checked Progressive insurance for cover 2003 Honda motorcycle and its around $6,000 per year then I just like WTF.

Or even Granddaddy! ;) Actually, Vol, the reason insurance is higher for under 25ers b/c that's the group that has the most accidents and drives recklessly

Yeah, they can barely walk most times, nevermind riding a motorcycle! LOL!

My motorcycle insurance FULL coverage, include the "works" and my goldwing is 1200cc and my insurance cost is what? $440 dollars a year! If I wanted a basic coverage, it would cost me only 120 dollars a year.

Don't ever argue with the real motorcycle owners. I have been there and I am currently and active motorcycle owner. Just like Tousi, only $592 a year!

The ONLY exception is the crotch rocket, and high performance motorcycles (like one for racing) sure they will have much higher premium.

Yup, youthful drivers tend to be 3 times more riskier than regular, older drivers. No wonder why they cost triple on insurance.

Had to laugh at this interplay...reminds me of something I learned a long time ago...

Think mom & dad don't know anything while you are in high school? Leave home while you still know everthing! Then, reality hits the fan in college and afterwards and you finally get a clue in life that you don't know anything as you are just starting to understand it. The worst thing to learn is life is not fair...such as the younger people pay more for car/motorcycle insurance.

Hey Vol! We ancient ones ;) been there and done that. We too were young once (believe it or not!) and we thought we had figured everything out too!

Ah! To be young again...actually I have no desire to remember how naive I was at times... :D

Tousi, have you been holding out on us?!

Yup! good posting. Your right on this one. I used to "Know everything" when I was in High school and under 25 yrs old. Now, that is more than 20 years ago. I now understand what the heck older people is trying to tell me. I realize I should have STFU 20 years ago! Guess everybody gets to learn though their own path, and hopefully they don't hit huge pothole ahead.

I'm only 17 and i know i dont know everything..i like to think i do..lol but thats just a teen thing i guess lol. Not sure how old Vol is and things must be rediculously priced out where you live or you are just looking at prices in the wrong areas. Again my cousin and i have a gsx r which is a croth rocket and he def does not pay newhere near over 1000 dollars and in canada most things are more expensive than in the u.s. And people under 25 are obviously going to have higher insurance rates because we dont have as much experience. I got my license a couple months ago (my reg drivers licence) and here in Ontario we have what we call graduated licensing. For example to get your regular driving license for a car/truck/ van etc you get your G1 first which is your learners permit. You have your G1 for a year minimum unless you take drivers ed than its 8 months minimum. Than after your G1 you go take a test to get ur G2 (actual driving test). You go on the road and all that with an instructor, parallel park, reg park, lane switches etc. and then u pass or fail. Than you can gave ur G2 min of 1 year up to 5 years and in that time you go for your G. Which is your final stage in the licensing process to drive a car. This entitles you to "full" driving privelages..which means you can have a full amount of people in your car at any time and you may drive with up to (i think).07 alcohol in ur system. With ur g2 u cant have a certain amount of drivers past midnight and no alcohol in ur system at any time, but u can still go on the highway and queensway etc with ur G2. Takes a while to get your full privelages, but you shouldnt drink and drive no matter what, but thats the law..weird..but ya..thats my posting...

I'm 18 years old, soon be 19 in Dec 2006. I'm from LA area and already have full driver license (Class C) because I passed DE/DT last year and I can drive in anytime if want too. Auto insurance is higher for young people, under 25 years old but auto insurance can be vary depends on people. I would not surprised if auto insurance is more expensive than USA.

I also pretty much have full licensing as well and i passed drivers ed and my learners with no mistakes too.I can drive anytime i want to as well, i just cant have more than 2 people in my car past 12 which i dont really do, considering they better be payin for gas if they wanna be out that late and also driving without alcohol which i would NOT do cuz im not stupid. I only pay an extra 350 a year added to my moms insurance cuz im a 2nd driver. So, really there isnt much of a difference between ur driving privelages and mine...
