Do you know any of ways to make stay awake and i work double shift..

I had try with plently of coffee, teas and soda.. those aren't working on me.. :pissed:

anyone know how?

you could also try chocolates...since they contains abit of caffine in it, as well

sound like your body is already getting used
to these caffeine so any kind of caffeine
would NOT help u at all... I have the
same problem cuz I'm already full of caffeine
so I still dunno how to keep awake. Perhaps
a dose of herion, cocaine and Arnold's steroids
would help ? i'm just kidding ya...
Hope someone else would
know the real answer to help...

Maybe u could try some energy drinks or energy bars that would keep u awake? Have u tried some of them?

I'm not sure if energy drinks or bars do that stuff. I think drinking lots of water, water, water will keep u awake, ice cold of course! Soda does not work with keeping awake, from what I've heard.

try the diet pills they do the wonders... i normally take diet pills to keep myself awake. even i'm skinny i just use it to keep myself wide awake when nesseccery :D

Working nights is no fun. I've juggled working night shifts and school for the last four years. I would LOVE to have a 'normal' schedule again. Here's a few hints that I've learned from my personal experience and reading:

Try to have a regular sleep schedule and stay on it even during days off. This makes social life tough, but easier on body rythms.

Figure out how much sleep you need everday (8-9 hours, maybe more) and try to get at least that much.

Keep your work area well-lit. The light mimics the sun and makes your body think that it's daylight.

Keep your bedroom cool and dark when you are sleeping. I use a Navy blue bedsheet over my window and don't let ANY sunlight in.

Use foam earplugs if you need to. I don't know if you're hearing or not.

Figure out what diet works for you and stick to it. I don't mean try to lose weight, but do you eat cereal or steak when you wake up? I have BIG supper after waking up, then cereal (no sugar) before going to bed.

Avoid sodas and junk food during work. Sugar rush is short and then you are more tired.

I disagree with DeafScuba. Stay away from any pills or drugs. Don't know side affects and may become addicted. Drug problems are worse than night shift.

I found an excellent article on shift work. Will post it here when I get home. Hope this helps.

Only a way... that you need to have some sleeep. Make sure you sleep whole 8 hrs before you go to work. Caffienes are not good for you.

For once, I agree with eternity. Your body is in a state of protest because you are tired. You must sleep for a decent amount of time before your shifts. If your body doesn't get the amount of rest it needs, then you are only opening the door for more problems...ya know??? :) Try not to force yourself to stay awake...maybe you can ask your boss for a night off so that you can sleep a little bit...catch up on your rest and recharge?

Why are you against sleeping anyway?

My husband always sleep long hours before get ready for work.. When he arrives home in the moring 730am.. Straight bed at 9pm.. and wake up at 5pm ready for the dinner.. When finished the dinner.. He'll return sleep at 7pm...for his nap time.. til gets up at 9pm.. Ready to leave for work 1040pm.. He felt better and lot of engery work night shift long hours..

I suggest you best advise, Must take long good sleep and prepare for your double shifts.. Long sleep full 8 hours.. If you feel like nap within 2 hours max. Before start your work! you will have enough engery.. Well said Eternity!

Malfy, Very funny recharge.. sound alike battery.. which she needs re-charge as condiser battery boost up! (Chuckles)

I'm curious, how many hours do you work?...And do you mean you work second shift? like 2 30 pm until midnight?....

I agree that you need to make sure to have enough sleep. I heard that eating apple works better than drinking coffee to keep awake.

Cool Froggie

I found the article that I was talking about. Here's the link:

Another thing that helps me is to get up and take a walk outside. The movement, the cool breeze, and the 'fresh' air wake me up. Hope this helps, but try to stay away from the double shifts. They aren't good for you.

Whatever you do... don't take Vivarin! Those will keep you awake too much that you'll lose your mind!

or drink energy drinks but i must warn u... they last for short time... its like u get a burst of energy then ull feel much much worse when it wear off... best way is to sleep few extra hours before work then... and other thing i heard that its easier to go to sleep when ur FIGHTING to stay awake... so dont fight ya know... like fool urself that ur already r awake and keep busy with it not sit around and do nothing just keep busy and ull be fine

Well I used to work double shifts but not anymore--- now i work over 40 hours lately.

I always eat good food, drink, and get plenty sleep ( ) Thats safe than taking the stupid pills and the slim drinks or whatever that is since it can be addicted and tempted.

Good luck! :ugh2:

What kind of work do you do? Do you do a lot of physical activity that would help keep you awake?
