I'm Kevin from Southest Texas (Beaumont area). I am HoH. I noticed a loss of hearing about 2 years ago so I made a doctors appt. Found a 35% loss across the board. My loss has noticably increased over the past 6 mths. I will have my hearing aids in about a week. I am very excited to finally get them.

I know enough ASL to hold a conversation but have a long way to go. I attend local Deaf socials frequently to make new friends and increase my sign vocabulary. Luckily, my wife is fairly fluent in ASL and is very supportive of me.

I'm a little scared of the quick changes in life I'm having to make with deafness coming so fast. But I want to be excited about life, so I am jumping in feet first.

Anyway, my hobbies are motorcycles, fast cars, anything outdoors and my Boxer, Tuco.

So...anyone from my neck of the woods?

........Kevin from Texas

Hello Bikedoc,

Welcome to AD. I graduated from an interpreter program in San Antonio. I've heard that there's another program in Houston somewhere. My teachers should be able to give me a contact if you want it.

Judging by your login, you and diehardbiker should get together to chat. I won't get on the things myself. Worked at a hospital for several years and have heard many stories.

Hi Bikedoc :welcome: and  I was born in Houston, Tx and now live in Pennsylvania. Enjoy your stay here in AllDeaf. I hope to be back in Tx someday soon.

Dang, ITPjohn, you've been just about everywhere!
