Hearing Aid/Cochlear Implant Dehumidifiers

How many of you use a hearing aid and/or cochlear implant dehumidifier? :) Some people use the Hen-Hal Dri Aid with those pellets that turn blue or pink when ready. Others use some type of pellets and a tupperware cup/lid or another kind of container. :) Then there are other people who uses a Dry & Store (Professional or Global). :) There may be other options out there that I haven't mentioned. :)
Which one do you use, and what are your experiences? :)

I used to use the hearing aid dehumidifier in those cans with pellets (this one can be heated with either the oven or the microwave), but I didn't like it too much....I didn't know how much to heat it (I didn't have the instructions with me), and I was told that the microwave is kind of loud to shut at night since there are others sleeping.
So I bought Dry & Store.....I like it a lot better! :) You can just plug it in, and then forget about it until the next morning (it shuts itself off). :) And it doesn't make noise to wake other people. :) I also like the deodorizing effect, makes it easier to remove earwax, and gets rid of moisture. :) I think it's a great investment for me to use. :)

I don't have a dehumidifer and I would like to get one when I move to Pittsburgh and get a better paying job. I will need to look at which dehumidifers are the best. I saw what you said about the pro's and con's of the hearing aid dehumidifiers. Thank you

p.s. Can you show a link to show the picture of a Dry & Store dehumidifier please? Thank you very much again please in advance. :) :thumb:
 
I have one here, it does help draw out the moisture in the hearing aids. They don't cost much either, only $10 for the little thing. I have no idea how much those electric dehumidifiers for hearing aids cost, probably expensive for sure.

Thought I would keep this post alive because I recently got my first HA and my audiologist recommended getting a dehumidifier that cost a hundred bucks or more. I just needed to know who has what and what their experience and... are there any good ones out there. Should I try the microwavable ones or ???

Any response greatly appreciated.
 
I have those Red hen hal bags with crystals in a holey tin, used it constantly for 8 years, I am a yacht racer and rely on them! they are easily dried out on radiators when i finished with them, I suppose when i get my CI i will have those CI boxes provided with CI.

I think i got mine from Petulma in near San Francisco but that was 8 years ago.
 
This is what I have at the moment. It just hold one of the old dry and store jars with the pellets, but it is cute.

Whoa... that's a lot of money.

Mine is simply... a small jar called "Super Dri-Aid". It only cost me $10. :)
 
If you are getting a BTE then I recommend the cheepy dri aid. If you are getting CIC, then Dry and Store would be worth the investment. I am currently not using anything. I had a fire last year that destroyed my dry and store. I noticed my CICs are fine when I put them in the closet every night.

You mean you just put them on the closet shelf with no dryer at all?

So are your closet cedar lined? or just plain closet?
