Have y'all played different versons of one game on multiple consoles/PC's?

The reason Im asking is cuz I just picked up the Grand Theft Auto Double Pack last night for my xbox and I have already played both GTA3 and Vice City on the PS2. Also I did both versions of Pro Race Driver for PS2 and xbox too. This wasnt only confined to both the PS2 and xbox since I did the first "Need for Speed" on both the Sega Saturn and the PC.

The gameplay for both GTA's on the xbox was just the same as for the PS2 but it was a bit unusual for me to play the games using the xbox's Controller-S compared to the PS2's DualShock2 controllers. For example when triggering the taxi, vigilante, and ambulance missions, on the PS2, I would press R3 on the right analog stick to turn on the mission compared to pressing the blue X button on the xbox Controller-S. Using the xbox triggers for controlling the acceleration and braking when driving the car is much different than using X and Triangle on the PS2 controller.

However the xbox's graphics for GTA3 totally owns the PS2's graphix....but besides that it's just the same game I got to know initimately in my PS2 days. Hell, the cars in the xbox version even shows their engines in details whereas the PS2 was just a blur!

Has anyone ever done that before?

Yes I did. I played GTA on all consoles/PC even though I own only PS2 but I borrowed my friends' Xbox. However I agree with you about Xbox's graphic own PS2's graphic in GTA but GTA on PS2 have more better control functionality than Xbox or PC does. However PS2's GTA: VC rocks period. Once I play that game, it is SO hard to stop playing. I had to tuck the PS2 in somewhere to keep myself away from playing GTA: VC.

I prefer to play FF7 on PS than I do on PC, PC's was disappointed.. sloppy control and frequently crashed but faster loading though.. I did not get PS2's FFXI yet so I could not compare which one best PS2 or PC but I sold PC's FFXI already since I don't like to play any longer than two or three hours per week so it is pointless for me to have online game that require lots of hours and hours to stay in certain groups.

I've heard that Xbox versions are improvements of Playstation 2 versions. If you have a hard time with the controllers, you can change the settings before playing it.

I have Sonic Mega Collection for the GameCube...and it has 7 games from Sega Genesis in one little disc... does that count?

I did and it is still feel wrong or slow respond to my hand movements, PS2's GTA:VC's control functionality just feel right. I was thinking that I have this problem but my friends & IRC buddies have same problem as I do.

Maybe my hands are so used with PS2 controller, I dunno really.

It doesnt count in my eyes.....On the other hand...

Only if you played all the 7 Sonic games that has previously been sold in cartidge format on a REAL Sega Genesis and played the GCN version then it will count.

The GCN version is just basically all 7 in one disc compared to the Genesis...Lot of cartidge swapping here n there. Not to mention a bit of juggling in the game programming code to convert it to GCN format......

all of our hands work differently lol so it's no biggie...

I actually like Xbox's controller better because it's much easier and much more comfortable to use than PS2's controller, which feels alittle awkard sometimes so I get faster response in the Xbox's controller instead and gets me to push buttons alot quicker ^^

LOL tell that to me

I was so used to the PS2 controller for almost 2 years but once I got my hands on the xbox controller-S it felt so weird that it took me a month to get used to the controller for a while.

It was a bit unusual for me to do my favorite vigilante missions on GTA3.... Every time I play it on the xbox, I go on a "PS2 mode" of thinking....

Last weekend when I thought my beloved controller-S had some plms, I ran out to the best buy to pick up a cheap-o Interact-Acc xbox controller....BAM! a few days later, I was back on the Controller-S. Same thing for the PS2's Dual-Shock2's. I used Madcatz controllers on the PS2 and nothin' was much good than the factory controllers.

Same here, with the PS2 controller being a tad small for me. My hands begin to get sore after a while from holding it.

But with the Xbox controller, the big one, not s-type, it's like being in heaven. For hands like mine, it is very comfortable.

Yeah I do actually prefer using xbox controller-s over ps2 controller.XBOX Controller looks more SEXY! Heh! but XBOX Controller really handle easy and comforts for me.. XBOX actually :Owned: me already, heheh.

Yeah, I heard most of multi-console games played on Xbox better based on controller and graphics.
And I dont have problems with Xbox or PS2 controllers but I find GC's R,L, and Z buttons a bit hard to press.
If you find other third-party controllers uncomfortable, I would recommended Nyko's wireless or 10 ft cord Air Flo controllers. They cool down your sweating hands while you playing long-time games. Nyko had only controller with PS2 layout for GCN. I found it very better one than original Nintendo's. That's why I like those buttons better so much.

Yes, I've played different versions of same games. However, I find it best to stick with the console that the game was originally made for. For instance, Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto are Playstation titles. They made both for the Xbox. It was a minor improvement, but those who played the Xbox version got stuck with having to learn all over again when the sequel came out for its original console... the Playstation.

Vapx, Excellent true!! But I don't care the console from whatever the game is original base on... Who is happy with console and controller that their vibrates, comforts, and satisfy. I respect whoever stick with it's the best one console than other various console.

Enjoy stay!
