Gunman's family at a loss to explain Connecticut shooting - CNN.com

Very interesting! Because Adam was a shy genius as many people said. So the way I look at it, the incident would never occur if he couldn't have access to his mother's guns and was at all not taken to the shooting range which became his hobby. He could have became a scientist or something like that. How sad! BTW, it hasn't been confirmed that he was autistic.

What would have been the proper way to address his needs?

by a medical professional for his mental condition.

he obviously had a special needs and I believe his special needs wasn't properly addressed. I have a feeling that his mother was somewhat delusional in thinking much love and nice home environment will make him feel better.

based on stories I have read so far and since Adam Lanza was a big mystery even from his own family members... I think he was pretty much kept "hidden" at his own home and from everybody else. Perhaps his brother could shed a light on it.

We can only speculate at this time. Maybe we will never get the answers.

Many Mothers feel this way....Have a friend who's son was so destructive, was diagnosed bipolar and several other medical issues....Her home had holes all in the wall, her car had dents where he "fisted" it....and she had to fight with him on a daily basis to take his Meds....

Being he was an only child, and she had been divorsed many years...she coddled him, making "excuses" for his behavior also....She had been told many times by the Police and social workers that her son needed professional help, and needed to be removed from the home.....But she would not listen.

Now, her son is locked up...in and out of jail and prison....Her own health has suffered greatly due to all this abuse inflicted from her son, physically and mentally....Her son is due to be released next year...has no where to go but back to the Mother, since he has no education....(being thrown out of many public schools)...even home schooling did not work!...She's broke, from buying her son the many things he "demanded" from her,...even stealing or taking whatever he wanted.

I blame the mother for having guns in the house knowing her son was acting out. I have notice no one is saying anything about the father. He knew his son history and the dad had to know his wife had guns so this should had been came up in their divorce . If the dad did not let the judge know about the mother guns collection then the dad is just as much at fault. The mother did not seen to 'be all there' she went a bar and told strangers about her guns collection . I live right next to New Hampshire and I have met a lot of people from NH and not one person talked about guns or of owning one. Sane people do not go around telling strangers they have guns in their home.
I found it very interesting the news has not been reporting anything about shooter's dad.

I haven't read anything about his life story that is complete, so I don't know what the diagnosis and treatments were for him. I don't know if his special needs were properly addressed or not. Are you saying that he wasn't properly diagnosed by a medical professional? I guess you've read more about him than I have. I didn't get the impression that he was hidden at home. I read several interviews by people who remember interacting with him at school.

whatever mental illness someone has they should know right from wrong,if not they devoid of any human feeling..sometime have to accept some people are just evil
