Granny's taking computer classes ;)

I'm an official geek now. I bought some computer glasses. Dorky looking, for sure, but they really help reduce the eye strain. They are from VCEyewear.

Do you built your own computer at home? eh

reduce the eye strain? how?

For me, it helps by not having to look down thru small bifocal lenses, and by being able to have a larger area of vision. It's also less strain on my neck.

If you don't yet have old-people eyes, you might not understand. :)

ah gotcha.

I think I can related. I had eye exam couple weeks ago and the doc dilated my eyes. It was very hard to read anything up close. I had to do the old-people squinting at my iPhone.

I went to retina specialist for followup with usher syndrome on last Tuesday and they dilated my eye. It was feel like burn, too hard to read and too bright to see in the sun. It took around 2 hours to be fully clear.

My followup with retina specialist every 6 months to 1 year. :ugh:

Naisho,

As a Mod, maybe you can pick out and move the posts relating to screens and put them in a new thread? I don't think anyone interested in this topic is going to look for it under "Granny's taking computer classes." :)

Edit: The task has been completed.

Not yet. My brother has (several) and my grandson has (a few) but I'm not there yet. :giggle:

Cool, I respect you. I'm not really dork. Just computer artist for my hobby to do at home. My older brother is 100% pure dork and former Navy radar technician or something (he never tell me cuz, it's classification)

I know dork is smarter better than dumb blondie. pssh

Well, before I turned gray I was mostly brunette so I didn't have the dumb blonde option.

Whew! Another class finished! Pah!

I turned in my final assignment for my e-commerce class last night. It was a multi-section business proposal for a small business, client questionnaire, and small business website for the client. My website was over 20 web pages, including a form, frames page, template and CSS, many images (stock and original) and lots of content text. It was made in MS Expression 4.

All my assignment grades this time were 100%. Now, I just have to wait for the final assignment grade. Unless something really whacked out happens with my final assignment, I should get an A.

Now, the waiting and searching for my Fall classes. More stress.

I have 11 more classes to take. I'm half-way thru.

Just got my final grades--100! I also got some very nice comments from my instructor.

Relief! :)

A few minutes ago I registered for the Fall semester. Both classes are Fast Forward, so the courses are very fast paced.

My two classes are both on-line mode. They are:

1. Computer Systems Management
2. Information Systems Security

It's so great that you're doing this, Reba. This will be a third career for you: am I counting right?

I remember when I was in grad school, feeling frustrated with something, and ran into one of my students while we were each walking to our next class. We chatted a little and at one point I said "I think I want to try doing something other than math [math my field at the time]". She said "Amylynne, don't you think you're a little old?" !!!! Too old to try something new - at 23? omg. I have learned so many new things since then. It's a funny way of thinking that it's not possible/likely. It makes me so happy so see other people, past traditional school age, exploring/mastering a new field, and talking about it! Go Reba:)

Yes, third career.

This Saturday I will be attending my first all-day computer rehab workshop. For $37, I get the training, lunch, and a desk top computer that I can keep after.

The computers are cheap because they were donated to the school by a large company that changed out its vendor.

TCS and I were also part of the team that drove out to the company and collected, then delivered the computers.

These are heavy duty work computers--the cpu is 40 lbs. I will use it mostly for practicing on so that I don't mess up the family computer again.
