I remember reading about this but I was so turned off that I couldn't read the article. I think it's disgusting. I agree with the judge's decision and I think the girl got off to easily. There's a lot that is revealed in trial that doesn't make the papers and I'm sure the judge had to review every sick detail before rendering a decision. I really feel for this poor boy and everything they put him through. It should never happen to anyone.

Would you say she is mentally ill? Is prison really the right place?
Prison is FULL of mentally ill prisoners and it is outrageous.

Oh wow, 80 years is technically life imprisonment.

If this happened to my son....No sympathy for these girls from me....

Do I think the girls were "mentally ill"?...Hell no...it was just a cruel game to them....Kids can be cruel, even adults. These girls took it too far and now have to face the consequences for their actions....6 years in juvenile isn't enough!....80 years for the other girl being tried as an adult...feel is too much...20 years would suffix I think....

Or maybe just turn it all around...and force these 2 girls to do the things they forced this autistic boy to do!...then put it on uTube....

There's many prisoners that commit really horrific acts so in my opinion, it doesn't strike me as something a sane person would do (and many more who get away it and never get caught). That said given our wonderful mental health care system, these people would be back on the streets in a few years to do it again, so yes, prison is the right move. Kudos to the judge....I hope that boy gets therapy for all the abuse he's endured for their sheer amusement....

After a few years in mental health, they would do it again? Not if they were sane.

Depending on the actual "care". Just because they were in mental health care for 'a few years' doesn't mean that it worked. Some places is so bad that they'd likely either never SEE a therapist or get the proper medical dosage. Then there are those who do have medication but refuse to take it.

I know of at least 2 mommas who would be very angry and give no sympathy to anyone who would hurt their child (1 boy 1 girl) this way.

I wouldn't bet on that....God willing they'll give that her ten years probation when she gets out, but probably not.
