Hi... my first post. I'm just wondering if there's some obvious things I'm missing to give my wife who we've finally (OK maybe I've finally) decided to stop treating like she CAN hear.

Last year I got her a cell phone with an ultra loud speaker (although it's still kinda pointless). I just picked up an alarm clock with strobe/vibrate alert.

Are there any other gifts specifically to help her that I might not be thinking of?

Thanks,
Bill

Learn sign language, be total communication, and don't treat your wife "normal hearing".

How long have you two been together?

Perhaps buy 2 Sidekicks for both of you
to communicate ?

How about a huge flat panel TV so the captions are easier to read?

Oops! Sorry. That's the gift that I want my husband to get for me! ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. We have been together for 21 years. The change for both of us has been gradual. I think that why it was hard to realize when we SHOULD adapted our lives to it. We are already enrolled in ASL classes and I will admit it is fun. I just wanted to support her more in ways that I might take for granted but she could find frustrating.

I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thanks!

Way to GO

Wow, for 21 years.

How do you guy met each other? I am just curious but you two don't communication for 21 years. If it is not our business to know.. I support you to learn ASL and Face mean as language. To understand the express but don't be taking serious after you guy learn. It is what happen to me and my wife went crazy she took ASL class for purpose to communicate with me better.

There are another way for your wife can communication if she feel like want use her voice.

I can tell you what, get Sorenson VRS which you can apply at Sorenson VRS. I don't know if Alldeaf.com has change that link. It is free and you will need to have that high speed. It will increase your bond marriage a lot better than what you think. I get that feedback who is deaf and hearing marriage include deaf and hearing families. They love videophone because its much better and understanding.

Hope thing will increase your journal happiness!

the communications itself as long as
"Love" is still there. Have a Good day.
