Georgia school employee hailed as 'real hero' for talking gunman into giving up

Wow, good for this woman.So amazing, and I'm super happy nobody was hurt.
 
this story happened locally - the 19 year old was off his meds. Still ... he knew elementary schools were 'soft" targets (when they don't need to be).

It's awesome that they where able to talk them out of it but what options where available to them if words had failed?

That woman kept her cool and knew how to connect with the attacker. Excellent! :)

While the woman was trying to talk the shooter down she gave the students time to escape from the school and it worked . She had to have know the longer she talked to the shooter more lives would be saved . I have done the same thing when my dad wanted to beat my mother up , I stood in front of my dad and told him he had to beat me up first . My mom did not ask me to do it , it was the right thing for me to do as he gave my dad time to think and cool down. That woman did the same thing with the shooter she got him stop and cool down enough and give up his gun. The woman could be a hostages negotiator , she the skills to be a great one.

I once saw a bad auto accident happen and a power line came down right across a road which had a slight hill to it. People going up that hill would not been able to see a live wire hanging down. I got out of my car to stop the traffic so no one would get killed . So should I had just gone onto work knowing people where driving right into danger? I do not see myself as hero , I did see myself as a concern citizen trying to keep people from getting hurt or killed . Yes I took a risk of getting hit by a car but no on else was doing anything and I could not just drive away.
