when falling down... you stick your hands out. so my guess's on carpals bone. OUCH!

That bone just to the left of the radius (scaphoid bone) is the bone I broke

:aw: 0uch! I fell and broke my arm a couple of years ago on ice in Feb. I broke both the bones in my arm, looking at Jiro's diagram there. Had surgery and had phys. therapy on it after a few months.
Hope your hand is as good as new soon!

Black ice tends to be nasty and very slippery when the freezing rain ends.

Sorry to hear about your hand. I hope it heals fast and you feel better soon. I've had occaisions where I've fallen on ice, but so far haven't broken any bones. Happy Birthday! :)
 
Sucks to break your hand. I broke my hand when doing cartwheels in the dark when I was 9. Had a hairline crack in my fourth metacarpal. I didn't have to wear a cast - only a bandage - but I did need to use my left hand for writing for the next few days.

Anyway, I hope you heal soon.. too bad I can't write on your cast.
