For ladies, about the hot flat iron

I typically blow dry my hair with a large roller brush and follow that up with a straight iron to get the stubborn bits. I only do this every once in a while, but when I do my hair is stick straight for a long while, provided it's not raining. I live in a dry area, so I don't know how it'd be with humidity, but that's what works. I find that letting my hair dry in a braid really helps tame it, and it stays like that until it gets really wet. That's all the advice I can give at the moment.

My hair type- Mid-back length (used to be down to my waistband), some parts very curly, some parts wavy, and a lot of it frizzy when I don't do anything to it.

Frisky - I have the perfect solution:

Move to Boulder, Colorado. There is virtually no humidity.

The best part is that you can grow dreadlocks and be "normal" like everyone else. You'll never worry about a bad hair day.

I have John Frieda Collection, Frizz-Ease Hair Serum and Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Curl-Perfecting Spray. They only work for me if there is no humidity. Humdity is poisoning my hair.

I wish i could have strong curls but its waves i hate it so much!! its mixed wave and few of curls and frizzy. ugh only when it comes to humdity. :( thats why i decide to let my hair long and let my bang longer too. I ll find out from there if it looks better when it comes to humidity. :/

I have a stubbornly cowlick in the front in the right in the corner of my head. I have to use the blowdry to keep it under the control. ugh!

On humid days, I just pull my curly hair up. It is the only way I have found to deal with it.

Agreed. Letting my hair dry in a braid reduces curls to waves. Makes it much more manageable.

I love to embrace my wavy hair. Straight hair does not suit well with my oval face. More volume, please!

This might not be the best season to try this experiment, but have you considered changing what you wash your hair with? I switched shampoo for baking soda and conditioner for vinegar and washed one a week or so. The first 3 or 4 weeks were tough, but it really toned down frizzy hair for me once. I switched back to shampoo after 8 weeks for no good reason. I use a babyliss hair straightener. My only complaint is that it blew up my adapter/converter fuse overseas.

Nice. almost no humidity then I d be more likely happy. ah, interesting to know that lots of people with dreadlocks are there. So it make senses that no humidity and dreadlocks work well.

Try Biosilk style product by beauty salon told me to use this one ever since I once used that only a few times it helped my hair no longer wavy after u put on wet or dry either way and then use a hot flat iron or hot curler at last. It works for me.

I recently bought a ceramic flat iron, highly recommended. Make sure the number of watts it have to heat up to straighten stubborn hair like mine. I have buckwheat hair lol. I paid $100 for mine the brand is Royale it's used world wide. They gave me a VIP card to go have my straightened by them. I can't get my hair salon looking. Takes practice to learn how to section my hair properly. Keep shopping til you find the right one.

I agree I have to keep shopping until i get it what I look for. couple of people told me to buy the hot iron that costs about 100. i have not buy yet. But i am thinking about to buy. eh. :eek3:

I use to 'iron' my sister curly hair with the iron on the iron broad! And I was worried I would burn her hair! We did not have hot flats iron then! It is funny how people are never happy with the hair they're born with! I have cow licks and my hair look like the 'Little Rascals' Alfalfa if it is cut the wrong way!

Yes, people told me exact buy the $100 one, it works! I love it, just need to learn how to section my hair, it's not easy stretching your hand to get the back lol Do buy ceramic iron vs the metal. Have fun shopping!

I have naturally curly hair though I will admit it's not extremely curly unlike my sister in law's hair. It gets curly at the ends.
