Were the Ferguson protests a spontaneous expression of community outrage or an orchestrated campaign with paid "protesters"? It's looking more and more like the latter.

Early on, there were signs that protests over the shooting of an unarmed black man by a white cop were less than meets the eye.

In December, IBD noted that most of the protesters getting arrested weren't local residents but people bussed in from groups like the New Black Panthers, the U.S. Human Rights Network and the ANSWER Coalition.

Later, after the riots in Baltimore erupted, Fox News reported that as many as 50 social media accounts were tied to both those and the Ferguson protests, suggesting the presence of "professional protesters."

Now some of the "protesters" themselves are complaining that they never got paid.

In mid-May, Millennial Activists United organized a sit-in at the Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment offices. The reason: MORE owed the protesters money.

The group complained that MORE "created a joint account in which national donors from all over the world have donated over $150,000 to sustain the movement," but "the poor black people of this movement ... have seen little to none of that money."

A letter posted by the group went on to claim, "Organizers and protesters depleted $50,000 of the available funds and dispersed it among the people in the movement in no particular order." They even started a Twitter hashtag to encourage MORE to cough up the money: #cutthecheck.

There's nothing wrong with protesters getting paid. It's a free country, and they have to make a living, too. But maybe these protesters should think about joining a union before they hit the streets next time.

LOL, that's their problem. "I protested so where's my money?" Seriously?

If there was not any kind of agreement about getting paid it looks like they are out of luck and will have to protest to 'get paid'

I dont get it.
fault them first for being unoeganized animals bent on destruction and driven by emotion
now fault some of them for being organized snd esnting due pay for due work...
I see.....

I don't know about others but I fault them for going into communities and stirring up trouble. I'm certainly not going to feel empathy for people who go to a community and make trouble and then expect to get paid for breaking laws.

I never considered the looters to be unorganized. They gathered like flash mobs on targeted areas.

I'm glad that Charleston's communities had more sense and didn't follow outside agitators in any large numbers.

Protesting is a paid job?

How could they afford to pay ALL OF THEM? That's what this thread is about. Protestors demand money. Was there a contract?

irrelevant.

the point is... they were paid to protest. you don't need 10,000 paid protesters. you only need probably 50 paid protesters aka "ringleader" to start a bigger crowd.

that's why you see in some videos where a group of riot police approaches closer and closer to a crowd.... and then suddenly bum-rushed to arrest only one person? that's most likely a paid protester/organizer... an instigator... a ringleader.... a troublemaker.

If a cause is just then supporters will show up on their own dime or with the help of friends. They don't need mercenaries.

And feel they don't care what they're being paid to "protest" or even agree to the protest....Just a $$ hungry group.

"I was protesting at the beginning and more people joined me so where's my money?" LOL

Thats not reality...a.cause just or not...needs organizing...if its ever to do anything..
Nothing just happens..
Everything long lasting requires organization....period.
Was the civil rights movment just?
If you say yes,
Then explain why it had organizers, and lasted generations..hell the naacp wasnt even founded in your country, the underground railroad was just, but with out organization it would of not been able to help anyone.so on so forth..
i can go on and on...

I never said they couldn't be organized. I said that protesters didn't need to be paid. Unpaid volunteers can be organized.

Why are they talking about not getting paid they didn't go to work !
