Extra Taxes After A Car Crash?... up to $2.000? WTF

Wouldn't you love to have their old cars inspected at all while you complain about them?

it should be driver's responsibility to inspect his own car, not government. and the government will penalize them for failing to be a responsible driver to ensure that his car is in a good safe condition to drive on highway.

Didn't you know there are slower and faster lanes on the freeways (faster lanes on the left side and slower lanes on the right side)? If you drive a shitty car, you drive on the slowest lane.

did you know that even a disabled car on slowest lane can cause accident and traffic jam?

why not just stay on local road?

Actually... in many places... the fast lane is for passing only. You must drive in the right lane unless you are passing someone. That's the law here in Texas at least.

that's pretty much in all states. unfortunately - it's not strictly enforced. sad.

Well, I can drive on the fastest lane all the way unless a driver behind me drives faster than me in which if it happens, I would have to move over to a slower lane.

technically - it's illegal to do that but it's just not strictly enforced.

Not in my state - right lane for slower vehicle only and all fast vehicles, even exceed the speed limit in left lane.

Charleston is a peninsula, and there is only the highway route from the north; there are no local roads. That's why, when there is a major wreck on the interstate, no one goes anywhere--they're stuck.

From the south of Charleston, the way in depends on bridges, no local roads. Again, total all-stop when there is a major wreck.

That's the law here too, but it isn't enforced. All lanes are usually packed with traffic.

Yes, I bet cops are too busy with speeders, DUI and road rage.

again... not for your area.

you don't have to worry about it. this "traffic tax" only should apply to this major metropolitan area.

That's what I am talking about. If you drive slower than other drivers on the fastest lane, you have to move over to a slower lane. I drive for more than 35 years so I know what I am talking about. Drivers with old cars that can't keep up drive on slow lanes. Why the hell do you worry about other people? Worry about yourself.

uh.... I'd like to arrive home safe and not worry about crashing into a broken-down car in middle of high-speed highway or deal with road rage.

Same here, I'm getting sick of road rage.

Not exactly right but here...

State "keep right" laws
So I was exactly right.

In Calif,

Most states follow the Uniform Vehicle Code and require drivers to keep right if they are going slower than the normal speed of traffic (regardless of the speed limit; see below). These are listed as "slower",

In other words, if I am the only one on the freeway (for example, around 3 am), I can still drive on the left lane all the way (not required to drive on the right lane).

That's what we have shoulders on freeways for. To pull over to the shoulder when you have a flat tire or your car is broken down. Road rage? What does it have to do with old cars? It may have something to do with slow drivers regardless of type or age of a car.

wow.... why am I repeating over and over again?

1. most of cars I've noticed in this area are old.
2. most of cars I've noticed had engine failure - not quite easy to simply pull over to shoulder because you just stop dead.
3. road rage? I thought you know enough because you're from/near LA? if there's a terrible traffic jam, people get angry and start cutting in. that's when accident can happen. plus - people get distracted or exhausted... that's also when bumper fender happens. happens every single day.
4. we don't have shoulders in certain NYC/NJ area but it's a very big area
5. NYC highways do not have shoulders most of times

again.... why are you all pissy? my "traffic jam tax" suggestion is not for your area. it's only for this area because we're having this problem every single day and it's awful beyond belief. you would quickly realize it in barely a week.

one of the biggest reasons why I got the motorcycle.... and even bunch of drivers purposely try to crash me to prevent me from getting ahead

I know wtf you are talking about. Tunnels are the worst, right? I had been there several times when I visited. I grew up in Jersey City and loved the subways when I was very young. I had my first car when I lived in AC. BTW, one of the reasons why my elderly friend living in NYC didn't have a car is traffic. He used public transportation all the times. He rode in his friends' car when he was out of NYC.

there you go. it's much worse now since the last time you were here because population has boomed to the point where our highway infrastructure's capacity is over the limit.
