this happened to me the other day, i was driving down the road and this guy just slows down in front of mereal slow and started to pull off the road a bit, i thought maybe he was lost so i started to just switch lanes and go around but something made me stop and not do it

lucky for me cuz just at that moment a firetruck goes screaming by me

that got me thinking, is there a system to alert u with a small flashing light that a emergency vehical is in the area? think about it they have radar detectors which have been around for long long time, so its not like it isnt posible, so why dont they have these types of things

or do they?

Well I m not sure if there were any devices for alerting about emergency vehicles...

However...the rear-view mirror is the Deafie driver's best friend in the car. I use the rear-view mirror a lot oftens and I can tell when a cop car, fire truck or a meat wagon (ambulance) goes by with its lights flashing from the mirror.

Technically, it's our job to be using the mirrors. Not all drivers are required to have mirrors, but for hearing impaired people... it's usually required. My license says that I'm required to have mirrors in/on my car. It's also important to notice things around you. If you see a car pull over for reasons unknown, it's probably best to look around to see what might be happening. Maybe a cop is telling him to pull over. Maybe the driver is having a heart attack. Maybe there's a fire truck. It could be anything. It's our job to be alert without having to expect visual aids like that to help us out.

Heart attack? That is a new one for me.

I wish the drivers would pull over when they are on their cell phones. Drivers with their cell phones are the one worst drivers here. They speed over 50 mph on 35 mph roads. Some didnt slow down at intersections or drove through red lights.

Yes, I've seen it happen once. I was driving to pick up a few things during my errands. I was first in the right lane. This car was second in the middle lane. When the light turned green, I took off. The guy on my left took off as well. When I looked in the mirror, I saw this car driving behind the guy on my left. A few seconds later, I saw him slow down to a stop. I went ahead and kept driving. About 10 minutes later, I was driving back. That's when I saw his car parked in the middle lane with the police directing traffic through the right lane. I saw an ambulance and a bunch of guys carrying this guy into the ambulance. There was no scratch or anything on the car so I couldn't figure out what was wrong. The next day, I read the accident report in the newspaper and found out that he had a heart attack. He took off at the green light, but just when his heart attack hit... he had his foot on the brake and the car slowed down to a stop because he wasn't pressing the brake very hard.

JEEZ i don't blame anyone for not being sure, thats why i look in my rear mirror but not at the 1st car i look as far back as i can and if i see a siren going off then i know i pull over WAYYYYYYYYYYYY before anyone else does, which ofc confuses the drivers hahahah but i do this for my protection! there was one time a paramedic had no lights on i was just turning into the left lane his light came on and served and i just looked back behind me lo and behold i said shit so tried to get into the right lane some dumb fuck stopped there so ended up *escorting* a paramedic a block up and i pulled over didn't want to pull over in the left lane CUZ that was an east bound traffic and im not gonna get myself into an accident finally found a space, and pulled over there and hollered sorry abt that got stuck to them they understood and thanked me for clearing traffic they managed t o stay in one lane til arrival to the desination it was unexpecred cuz the accident was 2 streets up so i got lucky in helping them when i least expected and all i was trying to do was to get out of ther paramedic's way Stupid right side drivers were supposed to give all left lane cars space to pull into but this street didnt RME So all in all they got there in good time the pesdistrain had a heart attack walking across thr street so they got there in time to revive her and get her to the hosptial which was 6 streets over on the right ...dang !

I heard they made such alert system for you to know if there's a emergency vehicle on its way behind you or whatever but i heard the company that makes it stop making it. I dont know which company is that but i heard from my VR Advisor.
