I don't know if anyone has seen the new duracell commercial with a
little boy wearing a green hearing aid. The commercial doesn't have
captions and it talks about how duracell batteries helps this child hear
night time sounds.

If anyone is as upset about this as I am please write Duracell and tell
them how wrong they are to portray hearing loss in that manner. The
address is:

Duracell
Berkshire Corporate Park
Bethel, CT 06801

No one learns until they are shown their errors.

I think it's a good commercial. It shows people that even deaf people use Duracell batteries. It's like showing a couple of deaf girls signing at the airport to represent Delta Airlines.

Think about it, there's sounds in the night... leading to a hearing aid. Wait, a hearing aid? You mean deaf people can possibly hear in the dark? How? Oh yeah, with the use of batteries... Duracell batteries!

I've seen a similar commercial for plastic. They showed all kinds of plastic including a child with a hearing aid.

I think Sabrina was saying that she's peeved by the Duracell commerical because it wasn't captioned... especially for that hearing aid eposide. Correct me if I'm wrong....

I don't think there's anything wrong with portraying the use of hearing aides, or using the Deaf in any commericals... I just think it's wrong when there's NO captions! Like duh! hehehe...

I haven't seen this commerical yet. Yes, you are correct. Sweet_KJ. There were no closed captioned.

now how many of us actually wear our HA's to bed at night in the dark?
and even with our HA's how many of us can actually decipher that entire commercial without CC?

Actually, I'm more upset about how the stores in the LA area doesn't carry Duracell bigger size hearing aid batteries. Every time I need some new ones, I have to go to all of the grocery and drug stores in search of one. It's absurd that the stores doesn't carry them and why is it I always and I mean ALWAYS find my batterys at Target? It's usually a different brand but still TARGET and more expensive too?!

I'm so glad that CVS/Pharmacy is opening up soon because I always buy my batteries there when I was on the East Coast and you best believe that they will carry all kind of sizes and not just the smaller ones..

Have you looked in the right place? I've heard people complain that they can't find the right size... but it's actually cuz they looked in the wrong place.

In LA, its not a good idea to look for batteries at supermarkets -- they're usually more expensive, and they don't carry a large supply. I would go to Walmart, Target, KMart, and of couse Save-On, Long's Drugs, Walgreens and the coming CVS/Pharmacy.

Just coming from a native Los Angelan :)

The majority of people who were hearing aids in my area are seniors, so they usually wear the ones that are smaller and they are kept in the same shelf and store area. Hell even Rite Aid, don't carry the bigger ones and I used to buy my batteries from them all the time.

Vons are usually cheaper than the latter but lately they haven't been carrier the bigger sizes and this was before the strike.

Yeah should write and put in complaint about no captions. They should be reminded of ADA laws.

How do you know that it should be captioned? If it was just a boy with a hearing aid in the dark. There was probably no talking so they said nothing.

Hmmm, I get my hearing aid batteries free, but I don't know where to buy them if it wasn't free. I wouldn't like it if it wasn't captioned because it should have the option for captions there.

I forgot to mention that if it has a hearing aid or a deaf kid in it, deaf people would surely be interested in seeing that commercial and if it wasn't captioned, then deaf people would not be able to understand it.
