wow alots ppl re behind with driver lisence here. I just took classes when i was 15 and half. And got lisence right after i was 16 yr old. Very interesting.

I learned driving test papers at high school when i was 16, and passed in 1st try, got my first driver license few weeks later, and then do the driving lessons next at 16 years old...

Anyways at that time i wasnt interested to go for driver license, and learn to drive the car, coz my parents pushed me and tell me go for it.

But right now i'm glad, coz the new system of driving lesson, license changed in 1999 I think, so lucky i had full license before the system changed... otherwise i would had to go thru tougher test, and paying more $$ for it to get the next stage of driver license.

In our country we can get license at 15 years old.

I got my permit when I was 15 and got my license at 16. On my license says I can drive a motorcyle  I've never taken a motorcycle lesson. Alot of my friends here doesn't have permission to drive a motorcycle.

I took driving lesson at school in England when I was 17 years old but I gave up after 7 driving lessons due money matters. I can't manage money to pay driving lessons and plus rent one bedroom apartment.

I got my first driving license at last after took 30 driving lessons in Germany when I was 29 years old and 3 months pregnant with Danny... :thumb:

It's illegal for the parents to teach their children in every countries in Europe.

Yeah, my license also say that I can drive a motorcycle, too...

It took a while

I took driver's ed during summer school when I was 16. The first and only time that my father took me driving ended when I put his truck in a ditch. I still don't know how to drive a stick/manual transmission.

About a year later, my mom would take my out to a new development and let me drive her car (automatic trans). I did that for a month or two before taking my first driving test. It didn't go well and I failed big time. Waited a while and actually did some highway driving before taking the test a second time. Was much more comfortable, but failed the test when I forgot to honk at a guy who was crossing in front of me as I drove back into the DPS parking lot. Finally passed on my third try. It was a week before my 18th BD and when my learner's permit would have expired. WHEW!!

I learned how to drive when I was 16 and got my own car when I was 19.

You have to pay so much to take driving lessons? Is it that strict there?

I think in my state, its 15 or 20 dollars to take a written driving exam (permit) then its 25 dollars to take a driving test.. Oh hell.. its been nearly 15 years since I took the test!

My parents tried to teach me to drive at 15 took drivers ed got my permit. Public School drivers ed sucks. I had to re take after I transferd to OSD got my DL at 18

I forgot to add.. My sister and mom taught me how to drive. I also took driver's ed and got into trouble alot.. (talking too much) I insulted the teacher that he was an alcoholic.. really the teacher likes me alot.. i'm his teacher's pet. He said he wasn't drinking and i told him i can smell it from his breath. he just stayed away from me... lol drivers ed classes sucked too. so my mom and sis taught me when I was 15.. got my license and own car when I was 16

sadly i'm 25 and no license no permit license i'm very very AFRAID of driving.. but im going to try this spring or summer with my boyfriend to see if i can try break the fear... sooo *knock on the wood*

I did sit on my father's lap driving his VW bettle on the last street that led up to his home often when I visited him-- earlier as age 8.

Took driver's lessons at home-- (filled out quizzes, then mailed it to be graded), then 6 hours behind the wheel with a driver instructor... Scared sh*tless out of my mind.

Then I got my permit. My mother didn't let me practicing much. I only logged in 5 hours with her before she forbidded me. (I accidently put in "D" when I was supposed to reverse... I didn't hit anything but my mom freaked out and said I CAN'T drive).... but thank goodness for good friends who let me driving their cars. THEY SURE PUT IN A LOT OF TRUST IN ME!
I was supposed to log in 50 hours of daytime driving and 10 hours of nighttime but my mom lied on the record... I only logged in like 25 daytime driving with my friends' cars (I drove in their cars 30 minutes daily) and 2 hrs of nighttime driving... UGH!

So the day I took my driver's license at age 16-- I passed. :) I made 5 errors out of 17 possible errors. The procotor said I don't look at mirrors-- I DID! I think she didn't notice that I used my EYES, not twist my neck 180degrees just to check out my mirrors.
After I got my license and rubbed it in my mother's face-- I never drove my own car until I got into an university. But between that and my car, more other friends let me driving their cars(and my experience included a truck, van, and forth on!)... Most of the times I drove a '98 GEO PRIZM and '95 TOYOTA COROLLA which are alot similar... which leads to me my current car-- a 2000 Toyota Corolla. ;)

I got a car finally at age 17 when my mother realized that she CANNOT drive me to my university for classes and our schedule don't work out for me to borrow her car (after her work or whatever)... so she finally gave in to the idea of her Deaf daughter burning the rubber on the roads. ;)

(and only nearly two months ago, I got into my first *but minor* accident. and I am 20! So I am doing pretty good...)

REBEL>> The fees sure gained a lot lately! Maybe it is different by state...? I think it costs me 90$ for the lessons at home to get a driving permit. (there is a free driving ed class offered at my HS for Deaf students but you have to take it for two semesters. UGH! I am impatient...) I had to pay my instructor 110$ for the 6 hours and to recieve an approved certificate for license that I passed his behind-the-wheel instructions. Then for the license, 25$... I think.

Don't be afraid of driving, if you start driving you will have to used to it, but it is easy to drive. Just practice and you will be fine :) Just have faith!
