Drinking Organic Milk in Pregnancy May Reduce Baby's Risk of Allergies

Some people HAVE to... depending on their allergens.

And all I can say to the article is... ask your nutritionist or your physician for what you should be taking in.

:gpost: That's the best advice. I am sure Pinky is a sensible person who will follow her doctor's recommendation.

Some people are alergic to cows milk too. I'm one of them. That's why my health has improved since becoming vegan as I was lactose intolerant without even knowing it, but I was sick a lot and food gave an unpleasant after taste so I was a very fussy eater.

Too much soy and the phytoestrogens it contains can be very bad for not only pregnant women but anyone.

It causes some cancers.

Sorry but I don't believe that. There was research done to try and claim this but it was funded by the meat and dairy industry.
It was just propaganda.

I eat/drink soya all the time and it has done nothing to harm me. You just have to be careful to get non gm soya.

Plus their are other studies that say cows milk causes cancer.

I am just awfully worried about telling a pregnant woman to consume too much soy. :(

dreama.

I am allergic to most soy products. I also can't digest most vegetables and grains. Only real suggestion for someone like me to is to eat a lot of seaweed (which is not available inland like Iowa or Alberta), eat a lot of shellfish, or... drink milk. Maybe someone is only limited to milk as their calcium intake, as they are allergic to the calcium tabilets since they are often made of shellfish. My uncle is one of those that need milk for calcium as well since he's allergic to shellfish.

So "you don't need to" should be refuted.

It seems like everything is bad for you and then next week, it is good for you. I drank milk during my pregnancies and both of my children dont have food allergies.

Have had goats milk and sheep's milk and water buffalo milk. For me they all had sharper tastes, the water buffalo was very rich. I eat mostly vegan and have dairy allergies also so while I actually prefer goat's milk products to cow's milk, I rarely do any milk at all. Goat's milk does tend to be recommended for lactose intolerance because the protein quality is different. Last time I actually had dairy I broke out in hives, why I do lots of other products instead, like the soy, almond, hemp and coconut milk. Try to avoid ONLY soy and highly refined soy.

Goat's and sheep's milk tends to be from naturally-raised and pastured animals, often organic but not certified, by default, simply because the operations are so much smaller.

What does goat milk even taste like? I know it's recommended for people who are lactose intolerant and don't like/cannot have soy milk.
It tastes a bit sweeter to me. It also depends on what you drink it with.

For instance, I could taste it when I drink it alone and had it with cereal. However, I couldn't really taste it when I ate cake or cookies... but could tell by the aftertaste.

I guess it varies on the individual. You can get goat milk at your local organic food market such as Sprouts.

What about goat milk?

This is not safe for pregnancy. Because the goat's milk is often unpasteurised, and goat's milk products such as cheeses are often made from unpasteurised milk.

I can't eat Feta cheese made by goat's milk either.

Clarification: is pasteurised milk bad for you, or bad for pregnant women in general?

Because if the latter is true, someone need to tell the Italians, Greeks, Middle Easterns, Africans and some of the Russians/Ukrainians.

She said unpasteurized and yes it is bad. You can get tuberculosis and brucelosis from unpasteurized milk.
