Don't Put That In Your Dishwasher!

Most of time, I don't use dishwasher that much. It cost too much on electric bill.

you need to figure out which times of the day is cheapest, often time use dishwaster at nights is the cheapest...
theres peaks hours and off peas just life road traffic

It only works if you have hour metering. Most people dont have it installed on their homes.

With a 5 people to wash dishes for - dishwasher it is run daily. Its just too much to do by hand and it uses less water this way. You will never make me do it ALL by hand even if you drag me kicking and screaming. I just wash the big pans, non stick stuff and cast iron skillet. 10-15 mins and I'm done.

At night, it won't work for people who live apartment during policy on noise after 10pm-6am.

Nah....if ur dishwasher makes all kinds of "noises", then you need to get it checked out...it's probably old as dirt!....Never heard of that policy....

Agreed. They're relatively quiet (or at least my hubby says so.) I can almost not even hear it myself even with HAs. I think the 10pm-6am rule would be moot as far as running the dishwasher during those hours as it shouldn't be enough to wake up the apt. next door if it's functioning right.

Obviously, if you have mold "everywhere" then there is some other problem going on than just the bathroom.

That's not what I meant. There is mold everywhere in the atmosphere, not everywhere in the apartment. It's in the air you breathe, it's in the air inside the walls, but it'll grow only if it has moisture. ther eis no such thing as a "mold-free" house. Look at the truth about mold Youtube in that apartment thread of mine. What I'm saying is, if there is mold growing INSIDE the wall's air space, the fan won't do anything about that. It will, however, help deal with the mildew inside the bathroom where you can see it. That's what I meant.

It mean, you never experience live apartment at all.

My sister lives alone and uses her dishwasher as a drying rack. :giggle:

Not true....I've been around the block and have lived in just about everything....apartments, mobile homes, houses, a log cabin, a beach house....even the park....

Best to get ur Landlord or apartment manager to check out ur old dishwasher and replace it with another energy efficient new one.

So do my parents. They wash by sink, dry in dishwasher. :giggle:
That's better than what my MIL does. She totally washes the dishes by hand, then puts them in the dishwasher for washing. She's of the old school that believes you have to clean the dishes before running them thru the dishwasher. I quit trying to help her by unloading the dishwasher and putting away the dishes because I couldn't tell if they were done or not.

We always had a dishwasher when our kids lived at home, but we didn't put one in our current house.

It was too much work to do by hand when a lot of people lived with us, but I always thought the dishes had soap residue.

I really like hand washed dishes.

My college roommate used to do that. I grew up with dishwashers and never washed by hand first, I just stuck them right in the dishwasher and she would get so upset with me. Sigh ...

Learned the very hard way about Cast Iron Skillets....worked at a Bed & Breakfast after retirement...and I was asked to clean up the kitchen since the cook's asst. was not there...As I was about to put the Skillet into the dishwasher....the owner/cook walked in...oh my!...He acted like he was about to have a heart attack!...."My Skillet!!"....got chewed out.....big time!...That was his favorite Skillet it seems....:giggle:

And I've washed so many dishes.......no way would do I do without a dishwasher!

so did i learn hard way with most of those things..and i could not live without my dishwasher...
i knew someone that only ever used hers for steaming fish and veggies...what ever floats your boat

i rinse always, so the dishwasher doesnt get damaged, or 'wear out as quickly' by glogging of cunks, and grimes, and slimes, so rinseing as quikc hand wash is always sensiable, also it guearantees a proper wash done by the dishwasher
.

now what about when dishes is finished

do you open it right away (all steamy hot and and wipe then put away plates

or do you wait a whils - say an hour or 2 hours (how long do you do?) then open it and wipe-dry and put away plates and utensils

I rinse mine too, because I don't like any lingering smell, especially since we don't always run the dishwasher right away. But I don't scrub them like my MIL.

I set my dishwasher to air dry, not use the drying cycle. If I'm nearby when the wash cycle finishes, I open the door and let them air dry. If not, then they air dry thru the little vents. It just depends on what's going on at the time. I never wipe them dry.

Now, here's another question:

Do you use powder, liquid, gel, gel tabs, or something else for your dishwasher detergent?

I use the gel tabs. They are pre-measured and tidy.

I still use Cascade...sometimes Finish....(powder)...habit of mine...gonna try the gel one day and the tabs....but so far Cascade does the job well for me....I also rinse and as for the Pots, if they are really dirty then I scrub them before puting them in the dishwasher....I let my dishes air dry too.

same, but here i have "Active" is 1/2 x cheaper than the more-famous "Finish" Active have better bottle and funnel nips at ends to assist pouring, and its strange the more expensive Finish dont have it!!..its annoying i can see that they left i out to make people pour too much too often to encourage more 'buy mores' bloody cheeky really

but if i need a GOOD powder for say xmas time id use finish, and not worry about 'making the bottle of powder last'
