Do you consider this rude or not?

Yes it is very RUDE, i always respect when the visitors come my house and i doesn't go on the internet or use the mobile phone to use the text messages or whatever while the visitors here .. and when the telephone rang and i look at the numbers from the I.D display and see who called and if it was my mum or other members of the families i must answer it and if not the bad news i did tell excuses me i have visitors here and i will call back after they gone home ... only if my friends or any visitors need to know where to find from the website etc just show them then that it is .. i always must to get off the internet when got visitors here .. i does always to enjoyed while having visitors in my house .. better than talk in the internet because can not to see behind the monitors so i do not mind to go on the internet if i just chat away or look in the websites and check in the e-mails something like that ... i rather to spend more time with my kids they does need me . also must spend the quautily (whatever sp) times with kids, :wiggle: :wiggle:
 
Ok, i have qq for u guys, what about on AIM/MSN/YAHOO u got alot IM who would U explain to others, or would u tell them u re busy with only one u re chatting with?
 
one of my long time childhood friend wud ingore me and flirt with his gf so that's when I decided to be on sk2 pager ;) but if visitors come here yeah i wud not be online that much only on sk2 pager but I eventually learned how to ingore my sk2 when I am out with hearing friends for dinner or whatever. cuz I actually pay more attention to them than my deaf friends :) but really make sense cuz almost same as hearing people uses cell phones when with friends or dates.. sound the same thing to me but I'm glad i don't hear what they say on phone :giggle:
 
Yeah, It bugs me when hearing people using their celluar phones while driving and hanging out with you, Same goes for deaf people who use their sidekick while driving and hanging out with you. It's freggin annoying! :dizzy: I don't have a sidekick and if I do have one, I know where my manners are, to put it away and check on email when I'm alone, so there will not be any rude awakening while I have company.

I only see my twin sister with a sidekick on the roads when she is riding with someone, or in her hotel room after work, She doesn't use it during worktime, She doesnt carry it with her when going shopping, She doesn't use it while I'm over her house. That's what I like about a person who has respect and showing good manners. ;)
 
yup i consider that rude, i always turn computer off when i have visiters here, I dont have pagers and am kinda of annoying when they are using pagers online when they want talk to me i had to be on visible to talk to them. I always put my in invisible to get less ims.
 
i agree with that so rude!! if company come then i will leave msg on aims.. til company leave then i can use..

It is sensible to put "Away" on your AIM/MSN/YAHOO, this way you can talk to one person, and let fool the others to think your not playing with computer. :)
If they want to tell you something while your not playing computer, they can leave a message for you.

Back to topic - Of course its rude to using mobile or computer except on emergency or 24 hour work contact like my husband's :roll:

Long time ago, I invited a boy from my school for sleepover, and I borrow my parent's newspaper and read it in front of my friend, my parents took news paper off me and telling me its rude to read while we had a visitor, that's how I learnt this manner ever since.

Today my daughters playing computer with her sleepover friend here, and they are sharing chatting people online as I don't consider it rude.

Really good one... I like that way to avoid any hassle... I would do the same if I have any experience like you.

I sat with my hearing co-workers at birthday parties and Xmas parties at canteen for over one hour then leave for go back to my office... I'm one who leave earlier than them because I feel being left out. I excused myself and thank one of my co-workers who treat parties and wave to them before go back to my office. They consider my manner behavior as rude... I was like :ugh: when my co-worker who work together with me in office told me... I asked her either she or anyone hear my complaint that nobody tried to move on to talk with me... What should I sat and keep on smile for long hours and tried to move on with them when they have no time to watch my lipreading patience? (Sometimes they have good patience with me or not... )they rather to enjoy themselves to chat with others than "waste their time to listen me"... I didn't complaint anything but accept what they are ... but why have they complaint about my behavior for? My co-worker was like :Oops: ... Others are also :Oops: , too. They getting use to know that I'm one who leave an earlier... they waved me back friendly... I go back to office alone...

Ha, yes! I've been through the exact same situation as you and I know exactly how you feel. When I first worked there I sent email to everyone the poem from a deaf author "What is it like to be deaf" and it made everyone realize it. They realize that I wasn't ignoring them. I just didn't understand them. At work today, two women were chatting with one person from other department and totally left me out. I just stared at them then they realized that I'm actually here trying to get into conversation, too. They apologized and repeated the story, but if you don't say anything about it they are likely will exclude you next time. I learned the hard way so I have to laugh or say something so they would include me most of the time ya know? It's tough.

Yeah, everyone is different. It don't bother me, really. I am an open-minded and flexible in this real life... apart from this internet/online.
 
yeah i think it is rude

when my friend came over for the weekend twice i never been on computer at all
for the whole weekend

I'm not sure either I understood you correct or not. Do you mean that you allow your guests or visitors to use your computer all the time?

Yeah, my children play computer together with his friends here. I see no problem for that because my son invite his friend to share computer with him but... but... but...

I do not accept if one of my children play or chat with online people in study room to neglect his visitor or guest alone in living room because it's his guest or visitor, he should care of, not computer.

I was like :ugh: when I saw one of my sons watch on TV and let his friend go to mud-room alone to put shoes and coat for leave for home alone... which is not acceptance. I got my son to follow his friend to door because it's him who host his friend as guest or visitor in my house... Its about teach children how to be good host in manner way when their friends as guest or visitor in their house.

It's about my kids when they were teens at that time they used my computer. They chatted with their friends online while I have a friend or 2 comin' over to visit. It doesn't bother me, really.

Sometimes, I have a friend comin' over to visit me, we sit down and I teach her how to use the computer ( basic ). She has one at home, but she is new to it and want to learn how to use it. I sometimes come over to her house and we sit down together as well... and a cup of hot tea & chat while doin' it on her computer. ;)

If, it is my " other " friend who wants to talk instead of sittin' down in front of the computer & do things together, we usually go out and have a cup of hot teas elsewhere. Really, it depends on the individual's mood. I am more flexible to meet what they would like to do for fun and pleasure. I don't mind. :)

I would have done the same thing. I had a friend that beegggggeeeddd me to come over and see her so I came to see her and all she did was stay on the computer and I was just staring at the playstation game that was on pause. I was thinking.. my god.. that's so rude and not coming back again til she realize that she shouldn't beg people to come over and visit if she can't leave her computer alone. Now, she doesn't get on the computer often and to find that she has a sk2. I went to see her to make sure she was okay, she was on her sk2 all day long. Everytime I tried to make a conversation she said tell me to wait.. she'd get on her sk, i told her this is it.. I'm not coming back, if you really want to see me, come see me without sk2. She hasn't been to see me since. oh well.. her loss.
