But I did not meant to say give her the cup and let her swollow it, they could use their fingers and moist her lips....is that going to cause her to choke?...

That makes sense, I just thought of something, If she can swallows her own saliva, maybe as well can swallows some tiny tips of water without a possible of choking.

Of course, water is a natural resource and should be drank by everybody. But for dehydration, just be careful with it. Drinking too much can result in vomiting, and if it is severe, the person can suffer seizures or die. A 10 year old child wouldn't know how to re-hydrate Terri properly to begin with unless taught on how to do it.

For mild dehydration, it is okay to be given water orally, but for severe dehydration, intravenous fluids is pretty much a must. Terri is probably now severely dehydrated or will go into it anytime soon, and it would be unwise to re-hydrate her orally.

Yeah, I understand and I wouldn't want to do that to Terri ...

Jeff,

I've never heard in my life that plain water would kill a person right away. You have something to back your statement up with a link maybe? Cuz I cannot find anything that related what you just said.

"If nutrition is denied, there is a point when death may occur even if the tube is reinserted — toxin levels are too high and the body is in too much shock. Or the patient might survive, but with additional damage to the brain, kidneys or other organs.

Ironically, when the end of life draws near, doctors say that over-hydration may pose the bigger medical problem. As the kidneys and other organs fail, fluid builds up in the lungs and the legs. This increases stress and pain, and often requires aggressive intervention."

Yup, we saw a lot of that at the end of WWII.

The concentration camp suvrivors were so emanciated, so starved, and our troops thought that they were doing favors by feeding them. They died instead.
Way to go America. We are back to those days now except we are on the wrong side.
