May 26, 2000: 13-year-old honor student Nathaniel Brazill killed his English teacher, Barry Grunow, on the last day of classes in Lake Worth, Fla. after the teacher refused to let him talk with two girls in his classroom. He was convicted of second-degree murder and is serving a 28-year sentence

Feb. 29, 2000: Six-year-old boy shot and killed six-year-old classmate at Buell Elementary School in Mount Morris Township, Mich. Because of his age, the boy was not charged.

Nov. 19, 1999: 13-year-old girl shot in the head in school at Deming, N.M., and died the next day. A 12-year-old boy later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to at least two years in juvenile prison.

March 24, 1998: Two boys, 11 and 13, fired on their Jonesboro, Ark., middle school from nearby woods, killing four girls and a teacher and wounding 10 others. Both boys were later convicted of murder and can be held until age 21.

At 13, Smith was at the center of a media storm. His redheaded looks, and his age, were so completely at odds with his horrific crime that he almost got away with murder.

In 1994, Smith was convicted of choking and battering the life out of 4-year-old Derrick Robie. A jury unanimously found Smith guilty of murder in the second degree.

James Bulger was two years old when he was abducted as he played outside a shop in a Bootle shopping centre.

But while she searched one area of the precinct, James was being led away by Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, both aged 10.

They reached the section of railway near Thompson's home as the winter light faded. Secluded from view by bushes and trees, the boys knocked James to the floor and rained house bricks on to his head and body.

Thompson kicked the toddler and James was also struck on the head with a 28lb iron bar. There was evidence he was also sexually abused.

Oh sure... they're just 10 - 13 years old. Let them go, even if they murder a dozen innocent souls. Doesn't matter, the law is to be enforced. Otherwise, we're just encouraging people to break the law.

Sure, the kids that got arrested at the hospital weren't murderers, but they did violate the court order. Just like if you scream in a courtroom, you'll be held for contempt.

Well Sheriffs boss isnt the mayor or the governor sheriffs boss is the people. Just like im george bushs boss. I like re-elect him or fire him. Just like the sheriff. Now the sheriff can fire them deputies and he can ,,Just like that new sheriff in georgia fired 2 deputies after hours hes sworn in. It was personal he said, Those deputies he fired gave him a traffic ticket 2 years earlier before he became sheriff. So they better be careful who they piss off because they might just become your boss in the future. So its the sheriff responsibilty to fire the deputies because of their actions.

Banjo Oh sure... they're just 10 - 13 years old. Let them go said:
Wasn't it Abraham Lincoln who said that the best way to repeal a bad law is to enforce it strictly?
The Civil Rights Movement of the 60's were in direct violation of court orders.
God bless those who have the guts to take part in Civil Disobedience.

Wrong Boult, Repubicans are doing what the american people want them to do. They want them to save terri. Look at theose protesers being arrested by the corrupted sheriff dept. Guess what?? The Media showed what those deputies were doing arresting people speaking out of their minds. The Deputies even arrested children,,CHILDREN!!!. And now theyre remember this not even the LOCAL NEWSPAPERS!!! Can Save the sheriff now!!

Have you READ this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terri_Schiavo in entirety?

Those kids arrested were prompted by their parent. Those folks protesting FOR Terri are using their kids. shame on them.. I think it it is stupid.

In normal society, we protect kids from viewing actual death. but those folks who pushed their kids to take water to terri are stupid.

They fail to realize that Terri CANNOT drink via mouth! or it may result in death! hence therefore, any attempt by kids or adult to bring water to Terri result in immediate arrest! But what's good so far is that they have been peaceful no violence. they gave up peacefully and walked to jail van peacefully.

Actually Republicans are just exploiting Terri for political gain period!

Congress and President Bush shouldn't have been involved in that mess first place! Same things goes for Gov. Bush and Fla Govt. too. It should be between Mr. Schiavo and Terri's Parent Plus the Court. PERIOD. and IT IS DONE!

Now Terri is resting peacefully and not suffering at all! despite what parent says and people says. they are greatly stretching them..

Public opinion

There has been a large outcry from Christian right-to-life groups demanding that Mrs. Schiavo's feed tube be restored so that she will continue to live. The fact that Mrs. Schiavo is likely to die near Easter is not lost on the protesters, who have been gathering outside Florida Governor Jeb Bush's residence and calling him "Pontius Pilate".

At least ten protesters, including three children, have been arrested outside the hospice where Schiavo is located. Judge Greer is under protection from U.S. marshals due to death threats for having ruled against restoring Mrs. Schiavo's feeding tube, and at least two murder attempts against Michael Schiavo have been foiled.

However, numerous polls show that a majority of Americans believe that Michael Schiavo should have the authority to make decisions on behalf of his wife and that the United States Congress overstepped its bounds with its intervention in the case. [22]

According to an ABC News poll, 70 percent of Americans believe that Terri Schiavo's death should not be a federal matter, and are opposed to the legislation transferring the case to federal court. In the same poll, a 63 percent majority said that they support the removal of Schiavo's feeding tube. A 67 majority agreed with the statement that "elected officials trying to keep Schiavo alive are doing so more for political advantage than out of concern for her or for the principles involved." [23] A poll by CBS News showed that 82 percent believe the Congress and President should stay out of the matter, while 74 percent thought it was "all about politics." Only 13 percent think Congress acted because of concern for Terri Schiavo. Furthermore, Congressional approval rating sank to 34 percent, the lowest number since 1997. [24]

I didn't say that I don't support civil disobediences, but there are times when there is a need for people to disobey the laws for a cause as you pointed out. But I also believe that laws should be enforced till they are repealed.

Hey, the law is the law. It's the duty of the law enforcement to enforce them. If you feel that the law is wrong, go ahead and challenge it, disobey if you think it'll help. :)

Heck, I'll disobey a law if I believe it is needed. But I'll also accept the consequences that come with it.

Well cops were not doing their jobs back then. Why didnt they shut the mic off everytime martin luther king spoke and just arrest him? But Nooo they rather arrest children trying to give water to Terri Schiavo.

"many Republicans, and several Democrats" for Terri's Parent
"many Democratic and several Republican legislators" for Terri's Husband.

Banjo,

I sure don't appreicate you adding words in my mouth when I never said nothing about letting children murder others....so don't try to change the subject here and another thing I said it about 10-13 years old were arrest for trying to give Terri some water....Am I allow to have an opinion?...

I didn't put any words into your mouth. I was simply showing you that it's not a smart thing to say something like, "Good grief, they're only 10-13 years old" while there has been many documented criminals and murderers who were just in that age range you mentioned. They may be pretty young, but that doesn't mean they should get away with it.

The parents at the hospital as the protesters encouraged their kids to run to the door with the water. Shame on the parents for telling their kids to do it because they didn't want to risk getting sent to jail for it. The kids were being used by their parents.

In fact, providing water to Terri's mouth would cause her to choke to death considering the conditions she's in now.

My goodness Banjo, they only had water not guns....How do you actually know she will choke to death if she drank water? are you a doctor?...

I've had a past of starving myself , and I didn't choke on no water after not eating anything for 7 days....

^Angel^, You know I love you and you're still my sister, But she cannot swallow anything even water. There a possible she might choke. ;)

You're right. In that stage, it is VERY DANGEROUS to give water in her mouth - she will choke on it. The only way to hydrate her is getting it through IV - and plain water won't work - she would also need minerals as well. If you inject just plain water, it will kill her right away.

Jeff,

I've never heard in my life that plain water would kill a person right away. You have something to back your statement up with a link maybe? Cuz I cannot find anything that related what you just said.

But I did not meant to say give her the cup and let her swollow it, they could use their fingers and moist her lips....is that going to cause her to choke?...

It can, and not only to mention that you can die from drinking excessive amount of water in a short period too.

gee, and to think all this time that I thought water is really good for your body...

and people always tell me that I should drink more water.

the more water you drink, the faster you pee. :o

Well, it's safe to drink more than 8 glasses of water a day. But just don't try to drink 8 glasses of water in less than 10 minutes.
