You can refuse to tolerate it, and speak out against it instead of just turning your head and ignoring it.

Id rather not fight against white power skinheads, who are mostly racist due to love of there own race more than others, so id ignore em I like my body parts intact thank you

And as long as it is ignored, it will continue. What about them targeting the deaf population? You would speak out then, wouldn't you? If we ignore this kind of hatred directed at one group just because we believe it doesn't directly affect us, we risk having that hatred perpetrated upon us.

Shotting the Teaser 9 times even when the man is unarmed and handcuffed? Interesting...definetly the poorest choice ever made by a cop.

yea but i'd taser him 9x even if he was handcuffed and unarmed but pose a huge danger to me such as being extremely difficult, biting/spitting, etc. You never know if he's HIV-positive and trying to infect us with his spit or trying to smear me with his wound.

but in this case - I think this cop is racist and he's on power trip.

I am against the cop's tasers, because it can kill anyone suddenly. If anyone have some health problem such as heart attack back pain, they would kill by the tasers.

Every cops can't do with taser on any deaf people For example, deaf people express and sign "deaf" to the police, they won't listen to her/him without her/his warning. The police have no right to shock taser on the deaf people. Deaf people can sue against the police stations. I hope any police station will improve to communicate with deaf people in near future.

snallga

HIV through saliva? Half of any country would be infected by now.

No doubt! People really need to become more informed about the actual risk factors.

yup! You know how people are... The court actually would ruled "HIV-spitting" as assault with deadly weapon

If he's bleeding inside his mouth - a cut or gum bleed or a cut on his lip... well you never know. He could bite me... or spit at me which is mixed with his blood.

Do you even know what the actual risk factor for contracting HIV through someone spitting on you is? Or from a bite? Even if it is mixed with blood? You have a better chance of getting struck by lightening.

yup of course. but then again... would you like to try that out? ask HIV-person to spit at you and see what's the chance.

yea my point exactly

I've worked with numerous HIV positive clients. I am not overly cautious in dealing with them, or in having contact with them. If I were to come in contact with saliva of an HIV positive person, I would not be overly concerned. There is only a 75% risk of contraction from a needlestick that has just been used to draw blood from an HIV positive patient. That is the greatest risk there is, even greater than sexual contact. The virus is so diluted in the saliva that even if the saliva were to come in contact with an open wound, your body's immune system would be more likely to eradicate it than you would be to become infected.

So, if someone with HIV spit on me, I would simply wash the saliva off, the same as I would do with anyone who spit on me.

Kick em in the balls, or slapp the shit out of them!

I think cops use the Tasers so they physically don't have to do there job why run after and tackle someone when you can electricute them.

I used to think that physical standards (i.e., strength and activity levels) were high in order to be a police officer. These days, I can't understand why many passed.

agreed! :dunno: However - many NJ cops especially state police are very fit. half of NYPD is disgustingly overweight.

one major difference... you're talking about clients... I'm talking about offenders... Offenders = you never know.. probably bundled with hepatitis and others.

If you knew the history of some of the clients I work with, I think you'd back up on that statement. Criminal activity does not put one at more risk than the at-risk behaviors do. What exactly is it about a criminal offender that puts them at more risk for hepatitis or HIV infection? If you think it is only criminal offenders=you never know, you are actually at a greater risk than someone who realizes that anyone, including the person you are currently having sex with, or the officer attempting to execute an arrest, could very well be HIV, hepC, or hepB positive. Those diseases know know social or economic boundaries.
