Since I only see Deaf thread, so I tought, why not I start Deafblind thread.. anyone are welcome to discuss deafblind issues and what is going on with deafblind world. I wish that alldeaf.com would have thread for deafblind people. It is also good place to learn about deafblind culture as well.

:werd:

It would be pretty useful to have that kind of thread since I dont see much DB-related discussion out there.

Um... isn't this tread like having braille on a drive-thru ATM machine?

:slap: Vampyprox

It is like some deafblind might rely on braille as some others might still have some vision left to be able to read with their eyes. In any case, these who read forums with brailles have their own braille machines that will show in braille what is being said on the internet.

My French friend is hosting this deafblind website and I asked her for a few advices. She said it isnt a bad idea to have a conference here at AD for deafblinds, but it also depends on how many deafblinds visit this forum and so on. What would you like to see in this AD for deafblind? Is it accomodating enough for you that you can read everything? Just wondering...

Even though Rachel is probably the only Deafblind member of this message board, I think a dedicated forum wouldn’t be out of place. Rachel can get things started and the rest of us can chime in with our own posts later as we learn more about the subject. I’ve always been curious about tracing, for example. I’ll post some stuff, and I’m sure deafdyke will pee in her pants when she sees the new forum and be clamoring to join in. Sablescort has already expressed a strong interest, and a few others will undoubtedly be interested too. It might a refreshing change from all the "How many times a day do you pick your nose" type threads that seem to pop up like weeds all over the board. Where would you put it—General Discussions or Deaf Life?

And while we’re on the subject, here’s a couple of links for VamPyroX to peruse:

Okay, so we may have a deafblind member here. How is having a DeafBlind forum going to help us? I mean no offense, just wanted to clarify some things.

Cool—Rachel isn’t the only one here. Which might mean more input for the forum. I’m interested in hearing what they have to say. I’ve never met a Deafblind person—I want to learn more about this subject. I’ve already learned something just tonight about Braille monitors—I think some of the other tech geeks on this board would be intrigued by them too. Even if a separate DB forum isn’t started, I hope Rachel continues to post her thoughts here.

Well, it’s not so much that it really "helps" us as that it would serve to satisfy people’s curiosity about the subject. I’d like to learn more about Rachel and other DB people, and find out what their perceptions of the world are and what their lives are like. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be missing two of the five senses. I’d be willing to bet that 99% of all people would reach for the .357 or the sleeping pills if they became both deaf and blind. Some of the insights that DB people could give us might be pretty mind broadening. I realize that this forum, if it ever does get created, will never become another Penisarium. Only a handful of people on this board will ever become regular contributors. But it is something we could explore simply for our own intellectual benefit.

On the purely pragmatic side, it could also quite possibly attract sponsors who market products for the DB community, thereby ensuring continued financial security for the message board.

Well, if you can show me a lot of topics related to deaf-blindness... then it would be pretty reasonable to have a new forum under that topic. We can't just create a new topic unless we see enough that needs to go there. Go ahead and post those topics in General Discussion or other places. If we see enough, then maybe we will move them all into this newly created forum.

well well well.... i could call myself sorta of deaf blind becasue i have left eye blind and deaf too lol ... I was almost become full deaf blind way back in i think in 84' or 85' which i played the field hockey in Junior high school gym class so i was fellow the hard wood ball and someone behind me hit the ball so high and the ball flew up and hit my right eye and it really hurt big times and i spent off for three week with patches cover my eye and realize how it is so hard to do and sense so much different ... IT change my life forever and i never forget these experiences that i had went through ... right now I am thinking about take the class to learn how to do everything what DB has done ... so i have to be prepare if it ever happen to me for real .. I am not sure if Mile High City provide these service or courses so i will check it out soon when i have times ...
