I am not sure if this would relate to this section MODS: If you think this is not in the appropiate place, feel free to move to the correct place :)

In relation of the topic 'Da Vinici Code'. Have you all read the book and watched the film? Have you ever thought aof anything that would relate to 'Jesus' or any religious patrons that has bee invovled within this. DO you think Da Vinici Code would appear to be true in real life?

Please debate if you wish. (I appreciate if there is no bashing, flame wars nor blaming or ANYTHING that falls in this unnecessary category. Thank you)

I saw the film and I thought it was a good movie. It's really interesting and a puzzle type that allows you to figure out what's happening and there's really strange mysteries in it.

Haven't seen the movie, but read the book twice. Thought it was very interesting, and a unique perspective on an age old topic.

Do you or anyone ever try to solve some riddle or mystery that may have not been cracked or something?

i read the book and saw the movie really interested mystery solving

The Da Vinci Code is not to be ignored as a fictional plot. Its premise, that Jesus Christ has been reinvented for political purposes, attacks the very foundation of Christianity. Its author, Dan Brown, has stated on national TV that, even though the plot is fictional, he believes its account of Jesus' identity is true.

Let's take a look.

Did Jesus have a secret marriage with Mary Magdalene?
Was Jesus' divinity invented by Constantine and the church?
Were the original records of Jesus destroyed?
Do recently discovered manuscripts tell the truth about Jesus?

Has a gigantic conspiracy resulted in the reinvention of Jesus? According to the book and movie, The Da Vinci Code, that is exactly what happened. Several of the book's assertions regarding Jesus smack of conspiracy. For example, the book states:

Nobody is saying Christ was a fraud, or denying that He walked the earth and inspired millions to better lives. All we are saying is that Constantine took advantage of Christ's substantial influence and importance. And in doing so, he shaped the face of Christianity as we know it today.

Could this shocking assertion from Dan Brown's best-selling book be true? Or is the premise behind it just the stuff of a good conspiracy novel--on a par with a belief that aliens crash-landed at Roswell, New Mexico, or that there was a second gunman on the grassy knoll in Dallas when JFK was assassinated?

Either way, the story is compelling. No wonder Brown's book has become one of the best-selling stories of the decade and is predicted to become one of the top movies of all time.

There is already a theory behind the Da Vinci Code.

I think it's a possibility.

Know how the Bible consists of different Books written by different people? Well, those books didn't appear all at once. As the years went by, they would find certain writings and the Vatican or the Pope would review them before approving them to be added to the Bible.

Years ago, someone found some writings that mentions Jesus having a wife. She was even considered a disciple. However, being a male-dominant religion... the Pope refused to approve those writings into the Bible and decided to call Mary Magadeline a whore. So, there could be many Books out there that haven't been added to the Bible... just because the Pope doesn't want them added.

The truth is out there! :)

Why did the pop have to say that? What happens if they didn't decline that? Hmm?

Dunno.

All religions are actually controlled to a point.

For instance, under Christianity... there's Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Mormon, Jehovah's Witness, etc. They all follow the same God, but follow it differently. They have different rules, different holidays, different views, and so forth.

I find the whole religion thing to be pointless. People say that we should follow God and not fight. Well, people still fight over religion... over which God is better.

Look at Bin Laden... he's fighting because he believes in his god. We're fighting him because we believe our God is right and not his.

If you were to take Sociology in school, they define a CULT as a group that follows a religious belief that's different from the majority.

Since the majority is Christianity, we look at those whose religion is Satanism as being cults. What about those in other countries who follow different religions? Our main religion is Christianity, so we look at them as "wrong religion". If they were to look at us, they would be saying the same thing... "We're Muslims, the United States is following the wrong religion!"

Which religion is right?

I agree with your perspective. But what is the conqusences with these people who have no respect in religion or other religion beliefs that relates to this situation, Vampy? Any suggestion? *I hope none of us, takes this seriously if it is offensive for you and all -- at the least, it is only a debate here*

My husband and I see it that way too.

I have to say I agree with everything you pointed out, And I also agree that the pope or the chruch cut out some of the truth that they didn't want the people to know about Mary. I was watching the history channel, and they were talking about Jesus and Mary and also they believe that Mary had a son by jesus. You are right, the real truth is out there waiting to be discover. So many cultures always fight over religions and it such a shame.

The "Da Vinci Code" Is a great movie, and it does make you wonder if they are any descendants of Jesus.

I have seen this movie and I love it but I do not believe it is fact. It is all pure fiction.

The consequences vary on the group. One group may believe that one action is permitted, while another group may be against that action.

For instance, if a Muslim woman doesn't follow her religion or culture... her male relatives are permitted to murder her as a "honor killing".

My best suggestion? Don't preach your religion. If a person isn't interested, don't bother pushing it. That's why door-to-door Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are annoying.
