Connecticut town collecting and destroying games

Interesting. Kids should freely be able to go to gun ranges, hunt and kill animals(even if it is not needed) as an American tradition, but not be able to use a gun in a fictional video game, because the game is violent.
 
it is contenous issue at first i thought good idea should been done years ago but then i play space invaders is it any different still shooting games...i seen kill bin laden games all stratigeies of killing muslims all advertise on fb at sometime or other and most world turn blind eye also seen games books etc muslims killing jews and christians again world turn blind eye...Whats happening those groups killing each other for real....then you see things like satanic verse book burnings which was awful see load ignorent people burning books who never read it violent deaths because of it....it is same princple what your country doing now....
then i see printers who use 3d they great but they showed pics of guns in 3d and your country is worried about the dangers of that.... a sort of folk tongue by goverments

Every time my daughter's family come over, they bring a different board game. We enjoy our family game times. They have computer games at home, too, but they make it a regular practice to also play family board games together.

Minors aren't allowed to hunt or go to ranges without adult supervision. How many kids play violent computer games with the parents sitting with them and interacting with them the whole time?

Do the players look at each other and interact? That is, when we play board games together we don't just play the games, we also interact (make comments, goof around, high-five each other, etc.) at the same time.

Yea, I really support this. I feel video games destroy family quality time.
 
This is a huge waste of money and time. This is not going to stop people from doing a mass shooting. Kids can go go to a friend house to play the games and there are games that down loaded on the computers to play.
The money being send on gift cards should be given to the parents that lost their child to help pay for the cost their child funeral .

I agree. I think it is a parenting issue not a banning of video game issue.

It's ironic that some people see the same issue two different ways.

Some parents did those, but not whole of time. No one can kill someone in the real life via playing game, same goes with movies.

I started watch R-rated movies in 1993 and the first was A Nightmare on Elm Street.

For violent game - the first was Doom and Mortal Kombat in 1994 that where my father bought for my birthday, however SNES version don't have blood or gore due to Nintendo anti-violence policy.

I started play Grand Theft Auto (GTA) in 1998 and my parent didn't care because they didn't see my behavior change after play violent games.

Yes, that's called traditional, non-online multiplayer.

The multiplayer has two way - online and non-online.

it's both. violent video games desensitize both kids and adults. I question the leeway that MPAA gets for creating a horror movie that is excessively gruesome.

I don't believe the correlation that violent movie/game make them violent. I strongly believe that it desensitizes them to the point where it made it easier for shooters to do mass murders. big difference. our soldiers are trained to kill a man in dozens different way. Does that make them violent and bloodthirsty? no.

there was a study by a psychologist named Jayne Gackenbach saying that soldiers playing violent video games actually cope better and sleep better than those who didn't. but Gackenbach cautioned that it's just a suggestive association, not a definitive proof. It's much more to it and I'm just giving you a very small glimpse of her study.

I do not believe in ban but there should be a sensible balance. right now - it's way out of balance and out of control. time to get a stern action. collecting and destroying games is a good start.
 
Well, if people enforced the ratings and it was illegal to give or expose children to violent video games then there would probably not be a problem. Just like say, exposing or providing guns to a mentally ill person.

It can also be said the hunting and killing animals desensitize that person, child or adult, to the killing of animals, by that logic.

In those pictures, I don't see any family members interacting face-to-face with each other.

Yes, I have played video games, including Wii.

Face-to-face means real people looking at each other, not looking face-to-screen.

I have nothing against those games but you certainly can't consider them face-to-face personal interaction. They are not a substitute for board games.

There are chat, joke, play and funny in offline multiplayer, alternatively look at screen and other people's head.

The board games are starting obsolete and many of them replaced with computerized video game that emulate the board games on TV. I do like computerized board games because more harder to cheat and make play more fair.
 
Oh wow, it looks like repeat history of video game crash is looming.

We had video game crash in 1983 and lasted until 1985, it was huge disaster for video game companies, known as recession for video game companies.

If Nintendo and Microsoft don't follow so Sony could left the console business like Sega did for worst mistake.
