Comcast Recognizes Deaf History Month With Language Lessons On Demand

The beginning of spring, the start of baseball and warmer weather are just some of the things that remind us that March is here. However, March is also a time to raise awareness about the more than 20 million Americans who are deaf or hard of hearing by recognizing Deaf History Month. With the astounding number of Americans affected and with sign language being the fourth most-used language in the United States, it is no surprise that America dedicates an entire month to raise awareness about the disorder.

To recognize Deaf History Month, Comcast is bringing customers American Sign Language lessons by experts On Demand. In each of the five, six-minute segments, hosts Yelena Abramov and Adam Buck create opportunities for parents and children to share, explore and grow together by teaching easy-to-learn expressions for everyday use. Parents and kids can learn how to sign words and phrases such as how to say “hello” and “goodbye,” the proper way to sign numbers and weather related words like “sun” and “rain” along with others.

This special programming will be available to Comcast customers during Deaf History Month, March 15 through April 13, and be found On Demand under Kids > Activity TV > Sign Language.
