It really boils down to dollars. There are many millions of Spanish-speaking people watching Univision. There are millions of African-Americans and others watching BET. BET does not block non-Blacks from viewing. Even I watch it occasionally. Those people are spending lots of money, so advertisers are spending lots of money to keep these networks going. There needs to be a demand that justifies the investment before there is an all-ASL network. Money always rules supreme in the world of broadcasting.B.T.W. Those here, DC included, who think it is ok for there to be a B.E.T. and/or all-spanish network need to explain why there is no all-asl, or at least all-c.c. 24/7 network. I 100% agrees with DC that it would be extra nice to be able to do away with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and not need a law to make us equal but to say that means we also need to get rid of ADA for the same reason.
BTW, I think C-Span is 24/7 captioned. I might be wrong...
