Reminder: Meg, I pm'ed you last night and I await for your respond about FMS topic.
:ty:

Thanks for reminding me! All of my staff told me today that I must be getting Alzheimers because my thoughts were so scattered and I barely could remember anything. :scatter:

Better to start a new thread on FMS cos AD thread is very interesting and would like to continue this thread as I deal with residents with AD frequently and want more input. :ty:

That is something to consider the next time you drink an acidic beverage from an aluminum can too.

Did you read Codger's post at

#96 ?

"...The aluminum concentration in the brains of Alzheimer's patients is 15 times higher than in healthy individuals. The fluoride/aluminum combination spells disaster for your brain's health!..."
Yeah, I already know about that. Huge thanks to several articles and few books included The Truth About Children's Health: The Comprehensive Guide to Understanding, Preventing, and Reversing Disease for the information on aluminum. My mom warned me several years ago to not drink or use any aluminum cookwares as well. Plus to that, one of doctor-professors gave the two weeks worth of lectures on aluminum alone ugh. Thanks for pointing it out, Reba & Codger!

Meg, okey! I will create a topic in Health forum. I found few good articles and others about FMS. I also found out that my mom don't have that condition, it was different one. My bad.

Well speaking of Alzheimer's....

My husband and I, and sister in law finally convinced father in law to see a dr today to be evaluated for his physical checkup - we had to give dad a white lie because he was diagonsed last spring by dr that dr said he has Alzheimer's...and ordered an MRI. Dad refused and did not see a dr for almost a yr...his health was detoriating so so fast...

we got worried, contacted Alzheimer's Assoications, they were able to help us how to get him checked by a dr. Guess What.....Dad is seeing 2nd dr today for 2nd opinion. My husband and his sister thinks he has Detemia (same family as Alzheimer's) however I think he has Alzheimer's can change everyone's life in a short time span....

It is very heartbreaking to see dad decline.... we have to wait on pins and needles today finding out the results....

Downing, your family has my prayers. Few things are as disturbing as when a loved one goes through this. The parent becomes the child and the child becomes the parent. Be strong and remember the parent that was when you work with the parent that is.

Constant Worry May Increase Alzheimer's Risk

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - People who have a tendency to worry or feel very stressed out may be more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease (news - web sites) later in life, new research reports.

The relationship between stress and Alzheimer's disease also appears to be much stronger in whites than in African-Americans, the authors note in the journal Neurology.

The nature of the connection between a tendency to worry and the memory-robbing disease is still unclear, study author Dr. Robert S. Wilson of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago told Reuters Health.

However, he said that he suspects that chronic elevations of stress hormones may damage regions of the brain that regulate both behavior under stress and memory.

Wilson emphasized that this study only connects stress and Alzheimer's, and does not prove that one causes the other. The report "does not establish that distress causes dementia," Wilson noted.

But while it's too soon to recommend that people reduce their stress to help avoid Alzheimer's disease, there are many other healthy reasons to relax, he added.

"The tendency to experience psychological distress is a trait that we all have to greater or lesser degrees," Wilson noted. "Family or friends concerned about a loved one who is chronically unhappy should encourage the person to see a qualified mental health professional."

As part of the study, Wilson and his colleagues asked 1,064 white and black people at least 65 years old about their tendency toward worry and stress, then examined them 3 to 6 years later to determine if they had developed Alzheimer's disease.

They found that people who appeared prone to feeling distressed were more than twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's disease within 3 to 6 years. The relationship between stress and Alzheimer's disease was much stronger in white participants, Wilson and his team report.

Wilson added that this is the first study to examine the link between stress and Alzheimer's disease in African-Americans.

"At this point we do not have an explanation for the racial difference, but we think the finding underscores the importance of including racial and ethnic minorities in this kind of research," he noted.

I figured out years ago that life itself is fatal. So to cheer you up, here is a little ditty by Johnny Mercer that Bing sang in the 1944 film "Here comes the Waves".

Gather' round me,
Eviry body,
Gather 'round me
While I preach some,
Feel a sermon
Comin' on me.
The topic will be sin
And that's what I'm agin.'
If you wanna
Hear my story,
Then settle back
And just sit tight
While I start reviewin'
The additude of doin' right.
You've got to
Accent-tchu-ate the positive,
E-lim-my-nate the negative,
Latch on to the affifmative,
Don't mess with Mister In-between.
You've got to spread joy
Up to the maximum,
Bring gloom down to the minimum,
Have faith, or pandemonium
Li'ble to walk upon the scene.
To illustrate my last remark,
Johah in the whale, Noah in the Ark,
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark?
"Man" they said,
"We better
Accent-tchu-ate the positive,
E-lim-my nate the negative,
Latch on
To the affirmative,
Don't mess with Mister In-between."
No, don't mess with Mister In-between.

From the Paramount film :Here Comes the Waves. 1944.

I posted the link in here so others (included Meg) can see for themselves because I will post my health-related comments in there from now, not around here, AD anymore. It is my first time to have a blog.

Edit: I will post the Alzheimer information soon.

Ha, ha, that is perfect for me. Not just the lyrics but also the movie source. I really was a "WAVE" in the Navy. Yes, I do try to "accentuate the positive" but I also tend to be a fusbudget worrier too. :)

I did ask the lady who gave a representer about the Alzheimner that question. She said, the aluminum would not effect human to destroy their brain cell to become an alzheimer. I am perplexed because I heard the foil when you cooked something on the grilled like baked pot, corn, steak, chicken. The aluminum itself silver to effect the brain cell damage.

There is no evidence in the science. I do not know if we should avoid to use aluminum cans, foil, cookwares (pans, etc..)

I will cover about that in my blog soon or later.

But I would recommend you to buy this book: The Truth About Children's Health: The Comprehensive Guide to Understanding, Preventing, and Reversing Disease and read. The author of that book have strong background in environment, children health and other things. It is worth book to pick up and read. I rather to have you to make your own decisions based on the evidences that author represented. I personally stayed away from aluminum cookwares.

Interesting thread.

Some people, I know suffers AD like this. They received their treatments but….. I know there is no cure but it would helps to manage behaviors related to Alzheimer's disease. It could been less success with improving

As what I know there are types of therapies are used to try to heal Alzheimer's patients.

1. Art therapy
2. Music therapy
3. Playing with toys.
4. Get them to look their dairy book or photo album to help to improve patients to remember about past memories to reduce their depression without the use of drugs.

I can image it must be terrible what they had been through out.
