I remember electric fence.. they're not as painful as like... Tazer. They give similiar effects as you'd get from too much static shock.

But I think if anyone attempts to steal a sign and gets shocked, he deserves it!

And the reason it will not injure is low amperage.

If the parents encouraged him, then yes. However, we don't know if that's the case. For all we know, it could have been a childish prank.
A 9-year-old being aware that changing political signs is a prank?

since the boy was holding another poster - presumably to replace it with Obama poster.... I doubt this is a prank. I don't think 9 years old give a day about politic. I think the parents coached him to do it because who is going to arrest 9 years old boy?

I do think the kid was also being coached by the father -- as according to the article --

Noble said his son just wanted to see how the sign was put together.

Why would the father state that his son wanted to see how the signs were put together when there was clearly a warning sign front of the electric fence?

The kid picked the wrong night; tomorrow night is when the real activity takes place.

A 9 year old is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong.
Not if their parents are doing their jobs.

Remember, knowing the difference between right and wrong is from nuture... not nature.

"Not if the parents are doing their jobs?"

Don't you mean "Not if the parents aren't doing their jobs?"

Was it really the kid's fault? Was he really aware of what he was doing when he was trying to remove the sign? What if it was really the kid's parents that encouraged him to do so? If that's the case, the parents should be to blame for encouraging the kid to trespass on other people's property.

I second that... It's bad to expose the child to disrespect the warning sign or whatever...

But I can't see the sense why they use electricity fence to protect "McCain/Palin" sign.... I rather to keep myself from the public and trust my friends and family then I can debate cons/pros with them... than put sign my yard to show off to everyone which I support to... It written that it was happened to them before that's why they fixed the electric fence to protect McCain/Palin sign... I would not bother to put the sign at my yard when I were them.

I've never understood the reasons for campaign signs. Like an undecided voter is going to select a given candidate because someone has a McCain/Palin or Obama sign in their yard... :dunno:

If the purpose is to say, "Look at me! I'm voting for (insert name of candidate here)," I don't understand that either.

If that happened in this case, then the parents are to blame.

Exactly, it's parent's responsible to tell their child what right or wrong. The children learn what right or wrong from their parents.

I thought the exact same... Why put sign in their yard to show off for?

I just don't understand it.

What's really sad is that in my neighborhood (I've been told) everyone has McCain/Palin signs in their yard. I can only hope that uninformed voters in my area won't be swayed into voting for McCain just because the majority of people here are.
