Clarification on MI: you can make left turn on red light as long as it is onto a one-way street either from a one or two-way street except where posted. That is from the MI DMV handbook.
That's what I thought.

Are you aware that's not true for all lights in all localities?
Traffic jams are not.Patience is virtue.
Traffic jams are not.
Same with cars, lol.....point here is often motorcycles cannot trip the magnetic strip to change the traffic lights.
Illinois motorcycles and bicycles will be allowed to run red lights starting in 2012, but only in certain instances.
Motorcycles and bicycles often aren’t big enough to trigger magnetic sensors that switch traffic lights from red to green, WBBM Newsradio’s Alex Degman reports.
That could mean the riders either break the law and run the red light, or wait until another vehicle comes along.

I am disagreed with you about same rules. You should take motorcycle course and try ride the motorcycle around city then you will understand why.
um motorcyclists should follow and are required to same rules as motorists. to not do so is reckless and illegal. bicyclists are required to follow same rules as motorists too.... which is why it's not unheard of them getting ticket for running thru stop sign or red light.
yes I do because I have been riding for 4 years now. you?You should know that.
what does that have to do traffic laws?Like seat belt/helmet, brake, gears, motorcycles is more vision than car (car driver just watch on the road and motorcycle driver watch on the wide),
right. both motorists and motorcyclists must adhere to laws regarding HOV.HOV lanes, etc.
no.... that's not the point. we're talking about both motorcyclists and motorists following same traffic laws such as red light, stop sign, etc. motorcyclist is not exempted from traffic laws unless otherwise stated by state/federal law such as lane splitting which is only legal in California.

Don't matter how many years. Even 30 years motorcycle driver without helmet still stupid.
what does that have to do traffic laws?
We talked about rules. right? Who said about law?

Here you go. Car can't do lane splitting in CA like motorcycle can do it. Both can't be same rules. You silly.
If both are same rules then why take course to get another licensed for motorcycle?
Now We talking about the law.
Both are same traffic laws such as red light. really? Not for Illinois law, Did you read the first post?

Being held hostage by the left signal for a mere few seconds is not what I consider a traffic jam. What you just described sounds like a design flaw in your area, which is something they should work on to correct.
It's not rocket science. These problems can be easily fixed without having to change the law.
Out of curiosity, I timed the lights at a few of the intersections I regularly traverse. I timed them on various days and times of day.Correct me if I'm mistaken, aren't the lights supposed to automatically change after two minutes?
